Title: Boots, advice required.
Post by: Lonewolf on June 01, 2015, 05:33:08 PM
I normally use Altberg boots as they are brilliant but I fancy some ankle height, boot type footwear so that I can wear them and be more comfortable when walking after a ride. I know it's a trade off between safety and comfort but has anyone any recommendations.

I have 2 pairs I use.
Oxtar which are very light like trainers with protection for the ankle and gear change pad around £50 I paid.
And if you are unsure regarding the weather I have a pair of diora breathable and waterproof I have seen these for around £50-60 I really like these and a lot more protection . I find walking round in ether on a nice day is comfortable

Thanks for the replies, food for thought. They've got to be Goretex, preferably all black and not too fussy with other/additional colours.

There's so much choice regarding boots, consequently there's many sites on't tinterweb offering this and that, what such sites do achieve though is to provide an idea of the type of boot etc that is available, this is one such site

Steve, try them on before you buy, and in that regard isn't there a large bike clothing store in Leeds which may have plenty choice ?  I've not been myself but you will know of it I'm sure.

Personally I can only wear a higher boot to support a slightly wonky ankle so shorter boots are not good to me

Steve, try Alpinestars. I've had some for around two years and wear them for all except the longest of journeys. They are good to walk in too, so ideal for those days when you ride for a couple of hours and then walk for most of the day (race meetings etc).

I think that mine came in at around £125.00 or so, from Seastar Superbikes at Newton Flotman, Norwich (Kawasaki dealer).

I look forward to meeting you again at the weekend.

Steve.
You are after gortex boot ??.
I am surprised from your neck of the woods I would have thought you just changed the type of wood for the clogs or thicker socks  :whistling:

steve, Rhona has got some Daytona ankle high boots ( she always buys  mens stuff ) , Medon XCR , they are Goretex and very supple and comfortable, she says they are the best she has had, not clumpy and a very light feel to they, got them from Hein gericke but have seen them elsewhere, not the cheapest but well worth it

Job sorted, I managed to get some from Bradford Motorcycles for a staggering £50 after a bit of discount. Fully waterproof, made of leather, reinforced sole, heel, ankle & toe area. They also come with a 2 year warranty as well so their manufacturers who are in Birmingham obviously have faith in their products.

Merlin is the manufacturer, never heard of them before but they look all right, they're comfortable & functional so they'll do me just fine. I normally wear my Altberg boots but these new ones will do for the warmer weather.....(when it arrives)!  :mfr_lol:
