Title: Maybe

All young drivers should watch this after passing their test ...and maybe it should be compulsory for more 'experienced drivers'  to also watch it

I've noticed a significant drop in the standard of driving where I live and it was already pretty damn bad! I was told very recently that our traffic guys and gals have been reduced from a 300 strong unit to about 80.
Now considering we have 4 teams and each team covers all of West Yorkshire and some of the cops on each team will be on annual leave, sick leave, courses etc while all the others will be on rest days or starting on a later shift, that doesn't leave many bodies on the ground patrolling. It's not rocket science to realise why standards are spiralling out of control.

Being the Devils' advocate ......we have ANPR and active traffic cameras.......who needs the traffic police!
Yorkshire and North Wales were alway where I used to see the best driving standards, as the presence of the traffic Police was the best deterrent for lousy driving!
Lets think about new / proposed laws introduced:-
1- using mobile devices whilst driving
2 - Smoking with juniors in the car
3- Hogging the overtaking lane after overtake - is this not the norm in France / Europe - it only takes 1 peep a a Gendarme with a gun on him and I'm not going to argue.  :police:
What sterling traffic offences to be introduced by our counties leaders ....with our best interest at heart!........how many "law breakers" have you observed on your last 30 minute ride out?.........normally at least 3!
Where are the Police to implement this lot?
- Farady cages / radio shields should be built on all vehicles unless a hands free kit is installed,
- smoking should be banned in all vehicles - it only takes one dropped ciggy - just fit them with automatic fire extinguishers,
- and top yoke mounted AK37's should be allowed to be used against all lane hoggers!   :gun_bandana:
AND ---- electric pushbikes.....no tax....no license....not insurance....no compulsory training......and they're flying around urban areas like lunatics.......how much does it cost to get a 16 year old trained and legally on the road on a moped!

These days cars are so "safe" that traffic policing is way down the priority list.
Once the driving standards slip so far that we see an increase in pedestrian deaths and injuries, you will soon see an increase in policing.
However, more likely they will just make cars more "pedestrian friendly" so you can mow them down without having to worry about killing them. <sarcasm!>
Chances are we will also get big-brother in car logging where the car records your driving for legal evidence.

On my daily commute I see countless examples of poor, bad, dangerous and outright lethal driving.
Only ever seem to see Police cars when there is an accident or for some bizarre reason on Thursdays.
Steve, is Thursday a special day of the week or something? Traffic Thursday?
