Title: Waterproofing
Post by: BigAlan on May 13, 2015, 08:51:08 AM
So a few years ago i purchased a Hein Gerike jacket and trousers which cost a pretty penny, waterproof, and as yet still waterproof, but is there any kind of spray or suchlike i can treat them with just to ensure they stay water proof a little longer?

I normally use NIKWAX products
http://www.nikwax.co.uk/en-gb/productselector/productselector.php
Readily available in camping/outdoor shops, or on-line via Amazon

Wash the items in TECHWASH  wash liquid, then reproof with TX.DIRECT wash-in waterproofer.

Do not use soap powder or tablets as this can block the gortex fabric lining.

I have used a spray on waterproofer in the past, but made the mistake of laying the jacket on a tiled floor to do it. The floor was like a skating rink when the overspray dried !
