Title: Roller tool cabinets
Post by: viper on May 04, 2015, 07:36:11 PM
my son in law wants a half decent set up for his garage and ive been given the task of sourcing.
But what do I get. Ive got a cheap one in my garage that was about £100 the drawer mechanism is not great and I know hes not impressed with it. His mate has got an all singing and dancing snap-on one is his business but they cost 2 arms and 2 legs.

any ideas or thoughts, ebay is awash with cheap Chinese ones. machine mart do some ranges , the clarkes professional?

anything would be helpful, we don't mind good 2nd hand

Machine mart in my garage. It lives in the small workshop at the back of the garage, trouble is I have so much car/bikes/clutter in the garage, the cabinet has to stay in the workshop and I take the tools to the car/bike a s needed.  :whistling:

I've got the Halfords professional range of tool chests with the roller bearing drawers.  The black one not the red one. It's well worth the money

No, the red ones are good too. I personally would have preferred a red one but I ended up with the black chests.

Did all the hunting about last year viper. It's a certain get what you pay for job but if you're son is to use it everyday be sure to invest in the best you can afford. That said my final stop was at Equitech Solutions at Bury St Edmunds where I found a 'shop soiled' Sealey Superline Pro combo, less the tools with a very small dent in the bottom of the frame. At a much reduced price.   A quick adjustment with a g clamp and piece of wood and all as perfect. I'm well pleased with it. I'm sure Equitech sell on E Bay too. Maybe worth giving them a call. They're a great bunch of boys and very helpful.

thanks for your comments , ive had a look at equitech and cant find anything on ebay, the sealey stuff just looks like cheap Chinese stuff. \the thing is I wont buy anything unless I can view it first , so that puts going to bury st Edmonds out.
At the moment the Clarke HDpro range at machine mart is looking fav, going to cost about £500 and its expandable and a good range of inserts ect, looks smart in black and gold

I suppose Charlie it helps that you will get about 50% discount off tools seeing as how you work in the trade. I used to get 55% discount off professional power tools, Makita, Bosch etc it makes a huge difference.
