Title: Battery Sensor
Post by: knightraider on April 26, 2015, 05:46:52 PM
I bought my GTR new in November 2011 and my front sensor warning light comes on and after a few minutes, when riding goes of.

As i don't have extended warranty and the battery life span is for 5 years , would Kawasaki honour a replacement, especially as i am coming up to my 8000 mile service.

I have heard of dealers doing this under warranty , just depends on how tenacious your dealer is with Kawasaki. A new unit is £300 as the batterys cant be replaced in the 2011 model

I have the rear one doing this.
When I spoke to Kawasaki at Cradley Heath the told me the new TPS fits all models. For the older models there is some sort of spacer ?? I presume it's included I was quoted £240 for the rear.

Chaps,  have a look at my above post called tyre valves.  They come apart real easy.

in or around 2011 Kawasaki started fitting non openable TPS sensors into their bikes, if you have this job done under warranty you will get an un openable unit placed instead of the openable ones and then they have you, £300 every time. If you have the earlier TPS then forfeit the warranty claim and get the bats changed ..

this is the reason that Kawasaki have been replacing them out of warranty, If they can sell another 2 , 3 or 4 new units during the bike life its good business sense and more than covers the outlay for the first free one .

The new units,  which are sealed,  will dremel open.
