Title: Extra Luggage
Post by: Lonewolf on April 08, 2015, 05:25:04 PM
Not a piss take I promise you. I see no reason why this wouldn't work on the GTR as well as other bikes. I've just bought a BMW large 'Soft Bag', for the bike as I cant afford over a grand for a topbox.

They come in large and small, this as I say is the large one. It is huge, has lots of pockets and is waterproof. £164 for the large one, I think the small one is about £120. They can fit on the pillion seat or the top box rack. Three different sized straps and four straps in each size so plenty of options. BMW quality....no don't laugh, it really is well made.

Some pics.

Certainly beats paying a grand for a top box Steve. By the way, what tank bag did you use on the Gtr, I'm thinking of getting one.

I would rather pay the Grand to be honest kinda looks cheap on a bike like that lol

Except for one, minor thing, Steve.....it says BMW (not that there is anything wrong with that), but I just couldn't bring myself to fasten it to my Kawasaki.

I wouldn't pay a grand for a topbox, that's the contempt that bmw shows their customers cruel over charging , the sofbox is a good idea apart from the security point of view.

couldn't you use a givi box , modify a plate ?

Those soft bags are excellent Steve.

We've used them on test and they do work well.

Don't look as good as hard luggage, but do an excellent job and can be rammed!!

I've looked for a 2nd hand box but they're like rockin horse poo. This will do for my Cornwall trip in July.

Other Tail Bags are available and for less than the BMW ones.

The Kreiga one probably is.  :punk: :mfr_lol:

I have to agree, Kriega are VERY good quality, and waterproof. My only gripe is they can look a bit of a dog's dinner when strapped on a luggage rack. But that is just my OCD kicking in.

Ant if you Google Map St Tudy, Wadebridge, Cornwall that is the tiny village where I was born and brought up for the first few years of my life. Don't diss it just because it is only a few hundred miles away. There are some beautiful places to visit in the UK and I haven't and probably never will even scratch the surface.

I'll leave the longer distances to the seasoned veterans such as yourself, the problem I have is when I'm away on the bike I miss my dogs too much. I'd be no good going on a lengthy trip, I'd get home sick.  :mfr_lol:

I am glad to see you opted for the "large" ... You will need it for all those Pasties and cream teas that will need to be taken back up North when we finish in Cornwall !

Its a bit like the meeting point of the A303 and M6  :mfr_lol:

I know, just getting you to bite a little......thought you were used to that in your job ?

Ive been lucky and done pretty much most of the UK when I was younger with my parents, 6 weeks a year going to all 4 corners in different areas.
I don't like the roads, traffic ( always out to get you ), weather and most of the people.
Your hobby is a never ending, bottomless world of exploring with photography,,,,mine is smooth roads, friendly people, ( who are bike friendly ) heat ( sun ) and chugging around on my cruiser looking at sleepy towns wondering when I'm going to see the next car.

If you miss your dogs that much, then i can understand why.

I try not to get too attached to animals now after I lost my little 10 month old cat that turned up from under a bush on News Years day last year, took her in as a stray at 9 weeks old and became very attached ----------  i was more upset for longer than when my parents died !!,,,,,and I'm a dog person.

Enjoy exploringPoland the UK
