Title: radiator drain plug
Post by: viper on April 01, 2015, 08:23:50 PM
Is there one? cant see it , whats the best place to flush out without removing fairings, I can get top and bottom hose off without removing anything and use a hose pipe ??

Be careful with that.  It's on the left lower side and it squirts like an arterial bleed.  Don't lose the plug or the gasket like I did and then find them after I get the new one's in.

I did my 2007 GTR and I definitely totally drained the rad as I remember the fun I had re-filling it.  :whistling:

There's definitely a way to do it. I'll just be damned if I can currently remember but I will if you bear with me.

cant see a drain plug unless its on the front and obscured, was hoping to do it by flushing a hose pipe through the top hose , don't want to remove my adventure bars

It can be a bitch refilling as you need to allow the new coolant to settle and expel any air. Fill the rad up and then fire up the beast with the rad cap off. That will help the level to settle by expelling air. You will hear it burping. Do that a few times until the level looks right.

Place the drain pan about 3ft away from the bike and it should hit it quite nicely.
