After owning a GTR for about 18 months, and not really getting on with it too well. Decided in 2013 to get something smaller and more agile with less weight. Enter the Versys 1000 ( my blood runs green, so it had to be a Kawasaki ). After 2 years of owning the big V and loving it to bits 26,000 miles no problems, no warranty claims, and no undue visits to the dealer, and apart from not liking the front suspension which I had fixed for about 140 pounds, the bike has been perfect for my kind of biking. It's quick, handles great and is the most comfy bike that I have ridden. My better half agrees that this bike is as comfy as it gets for a pillion. So 2 years on from the big Versys arriving, I recieve a phone call from the dealer. "New Versys is here Geoff do you fancy a test ride?", "of course " say I and on Tuesday away I went to Orrell in Wigan, to have a dash on their brand new (47 miles) 015 model. After 5 hours and 180 miles of wizzing around the kind of roads that I do most of my riding on, and having the perfect opportunity to compare the 2 bikes, I decide that the new one is pretty much a great bike like the MK1, but with the suspension at the level where my breathed on kit is at the moment. The clutch lever is lighter, the brakes because of bigger front rotors and new pads are sharper. The engine although upgraded slightly, is still, like the MK1 an absolute peach, if like me, you do most of your riding on A-B roads at between 40-80 mph you couldn't fail to be enchanted by this engine. So I'm impressed, and when back at the dealers, am offered a deal that after arriving home and discussing £££ implications with my good lady, the decision is made. For the first time in my 50 years of bikes I have bought the same new model of a bike twice. Happy days. Now then, how many sleeps until the 1st of next month.
Well done young man, so are you getting the standard version or the GT? White, Orange or what?
I think you will find its 18 sleeps until the good day arrives.
Alan
Geoff, I kept looking for the word BMW but alas it was not there. :lipsrsealed:
Congratulations on the new bike, just make sure that this time when you pick it up you take out a restraining order so the bloody dealer doesn't harass you again in another 2 years!!! :mfr_lol:

Alan, It's a tourer so will have panniers hand guards, and a tank pad. I have also asked them to fit an accessory socket, fender extenda, and heated grips. And because the chassis is the same as the MK1,other stuff off my bike like the MRA screen and rad guard will fit the new un. I have also retained the top box although that will require painting. The bike is Orange and looks very nice in the flesh. What colour did your pal order?. The dealer that I use Orrell in Wigan only got the 015 model in last week and sold 5 in the week. And when I had the test ride on Tuesday another chap had been out on the demo in the morning, climbed off the bike and promptly ordered a black one, then of course I climbed on it and also ordered one on my return. So get your order in now as they are flying out the door :mfr_lol:

Thanks Steve. No I just cant bring myself round to writing BMmmmm NO I just cant do it :mfr_lol: . I paid £8,500 for the Versys when I bought it new, and got 6 back for it with 26,000 miles on so as you would say It was a no brainer.  Happy days.

Alan
Well done. Sounds like a good deal to me. I wish my heart would let me get rid of the GTR, but I just can't do it.....
