Horns
Chaps, so I have bought two new horns, (high and low) 115db and they fit where the stock is.
I want to replace the stock horn.
I tried air horns and these nautilus ones, and the snail ones, but I'm going back to simple.
All I want to talk about is the wiring off them.
I put meter on the horn fixing bolt and both terminals and the bolt is insulated .
I already have a relay in place thrown by the stock horn wire.
So I connected the relay powered + wire and an earth to one of the new horns, tested it, and it worked great, then wired the other in parallel to the first and I got just a relay click. I swapped the wires on the second horn and still nothing. Me thinks a dodgy 2nd horn. So I disconnected the 1st and just wired the 2nd and it worked. But they would not work together parallel wired.
What's your thought on this please.
What I may do is just fit a second relay thrown by the stock horn wire to power the second new horn, but it would have been a lot easier to have an extra 8 inches of parallel wiring between the two horns.
did you try with engine running?
Can you please tell which one did you get.
I was looking for some but I couldn't find any that fits in the original place.
Thx
Gordan

He got the ones that don't seem to work on a GTR. :whistling:

oh how I needed a laugh this morning - thanks Mr Wolf :)
Try running two separate + feeds from the relay to the two horns(terminal 87 if memory serves me right).
Don't run a single feed to horn 1 and then a feed from there to the second horn.
Let us know how you get on...
As I am understanding this if you connect either horn up it works fine, but when both are connected in parallel they don't work.
Therefore there is nothing wrong with the horns or the feed wiring.
So all we are left with is excess voltage drop when both are connected.
Possible causes: -
Battery voltage dropping, try with engine running (as suggested above)
Voltage loss across the wiring, terminals or relay.
You can measure the voltage drop with a volt meter, connect one end to the battery +, the other end to the horn +, when you push the horn button there should be 0V on the meter, any V displayed is voltage loss.

also check the earth connection is really good, those 2 horns together will draw a lot of amps
Like this one?
Fitted under the nearside where there's loads of room.
you posted this back in feb, are they working yet?
I read this link attached below when I looked at the stebel horns it may be the same for your problem.
