Title: sat nav mounts. What do you use.
Post by: markmacd on February 21, 2015, 06:27:00 PM
I am looking for a mount for the sat nav. Not bothered about hardwiring, so looking for something to fit to the bike that I can quickly attach a waterproof zip up cover.

I have seen a perch on ebay, but thought id see what you guys are using to see if anything is better.

Ideas/Pictures/Links are much welcome.

I had the original gtr mount that attaches to the base of your bars, but found it whey too low.

Ive had for a few years the attachement that goes into the centre yolk hole and then ive used a long ram ball mount that raises the satnav up to a position that's good for viewing and does not obscure the clocks

How do they fit as the bars of the Gtr are not round bars ?

They are round Mark... Remove the rear part of the Clutch or Brake res mount bracket and replace it with this mount...

Someone on here has already done it

That's the one I use.  For weather proofing I steal a few of the grand kids sandwich baggies to take with me as I don't use a MC specific gps.

Let me check...

Working on getting it off the phone and uploaded to the site.. (bear in mind, I've started my Saturday night drinking festivities...)  If it's a little blurry then it's reflecting how I'm seeing it.

In looking at it, the bracket that holds the brake master cylinder is replaced by the ram mount piece.  I've got the one with the two balls on it because sometimes I add other stuff...I think.

Actually, this is the one I have...better have two balls than 1 I always say.  That way you're prepared.

I use my Garmin 660 cradle with a RAM mount that attaches to the Helli Bar Risers. I have RAM ball mounts attached to the Clutch and Front Brake assemblies too - not for SatNav as I like it lower down - these are for my SPOT2 Tracker and whatever else I might want to attach like my Drift Ghost camera.

Yes ... Like that..... How'd you add it as a link not just paste the code/address letters?

1. Type the text you want

2. Highlight it.

3. Click the insert hyperlink icon above. (http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/forums/Themes/default/images/bbc/url.gif)

text

4. After the "url" but before the closed square bracket add an equal sign then paste in the link ("=link"), like this:

text

5. For example:

Kawasaki 1400 GTR Forum

6. The above turns into this when you post:

Kawasaki 1400 GTR Forum (http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/)

At least that's how I do it.
