A few people have had problems with the gear position sensor.

Had the same problem with mine. it was showing false neutrals and not displaying the correct gear engaged. After checking all the wiring for any breaks ended up purchasing a new sensor from local Kawasaki dealer in Bolton. Cost £105 came with two new internal metal rods and springs. Bike out of warranty, dealer wanted to charge a days labour to fit as the nearside fairing panel has to be removed to access the wiring. Saved that cost and replaced it myself easy job to do if you take your time with it. Problem sorted .

Mine played  up after getting crap all over it, take it off and clean it gently with fine sandpaper, there is a cable tie holding the wire on, fifteen minutes max.

Save a load of cash at the dealer, my fee will be a kit Kat.

Had the same thing happen on mine when it was just a few days old.  Took off outer circular cover (watch for pins etc falling out). Cleaned with ACF50. Put it back together and no further issues  in 5 years.  Think it's a tad susceptible to water...
