The annual ring around is about to commence, runs out end of february, any good recommendations worth a try from you folks. :sweatdrop:
Rider over 50, clean licence, max NCB, riding since 1991, 2011 GTR, non city dweller and all round good egg :innocent:
I use MCE Insurance...
Low cost but the excess is about £700..
A friend who has used them said that their underwriters are not in the UK so trying to get a claim sorted can be a nightmare..
Cheapest isn't always the best... Going to shop around next time..
I also get charged £60 extra per year because mine isn't kept in a garage
Ouch
i use Adrian Flux on a multi bike policy. they are very good at specials, even insuring my Nitrous Bandit.
Carole Nash, £195 Fully Comp with breakdown and travel abroad covered, but i am old, its garaged, and i listed the extra's i have fitted just to make sure they know what i have.
Alan
Adelaide in Belfast. Cant fault them. They cater for anyone who has done the IAM test and they provide 'free' business cover and accessory cover. Their customer service is also second to none.
I used Kawasaki Insurance!!!!
Similar detail, maybe a bit older, but £116 fully comp with £550(I think) excess
Turned out the best quote I could get
http://www.kawasaki-insurance.co.uk/
Got mine from highway ,which is part of liverpool Victoria , £90 fully comp £600 excess, then I bought a ktm 990 superduke ,and with no ncb it was £110 comp from swinton, tried carol Nash the moment I tried to mention the loads of extras they went into a flap ,and would not quote, had a nico Bakker framed r1100rs bmw a few years ago took them 3 months and loads of photos to get an agreed valuation off them ,,go compare or compare the market are the cheapest you will get , :biker3:

With them at the moment, had my Blackbird and GTR insured with them, not got the Blackie anymore, they want £318.69 with £400 excess to renew the GTR. I used to be a member of the IAM but cancelled my membership this year.

Why??!
As a member you can recoup your membership fee easily in insurance, especially if you have car and house too.
Plus it's worth maintaining for the future - you never know when that qualification may just come in useful

I used to say the same until this year (still active IAM member). Insurance quotes beaten every year by IAM Surety on the ST1300, then I swapped to the GTR. Not even close (actually double and higher excess) claiming the 'not in a garage excuse' (it's in a locked shed, in a 6ft walled garden behind two sets of 6ft gates, one oak, one wrought iron).
Ended up with Bennetts (I know!) at £125 fully comp with business use.

Same problem here a steel shed no windows double steel doors 4 locks 2 security rated.
Still not classed as a garage the garage is easier to get into :mfr_lol:.
£176 with Mce.
Happily I have a few more months to psyche myself up to enter the renewal battle.
Having read the posts and thought about my experiences over the last few years, you tend to get a good price one year and then they try it on the next and then stiff you the year after that.
They hope that the hassle of getting quotes, especially for bikes with different exhausts etc, or worse still, more than one bike, will put you off and you'll stay.
They also make comparing the levels of cover difficult to keep you onboard especially on things like euro cover.
Throwing pointless extras that you'll never need also seem the standard.
The main issue that has been raised is that what happens when you are unlucky and have to claim on the policy.
That is the point when saving £50 going through a foreign call centre with a co no one has heard of, doesnt seem a good saving.
On the MCE front, I was with them quite happily until they tried to stiff me on the premium. The calls to their call centre nearly cost me one years cover
I have found that quotes can very from day to day, so the best way is to check on line with a multi-insurance quote site that way you should find a suitable deal

Well the quote they gave me was as a member, I couldn't see the discount in the £318 quote, plus IAM membership on top when you look at what others are quoting.
Several mentions of the requirement for a garage here.
Just be careful if you do state it is kept in a garage. Check the wording about timing, some policies need the bike in the garage ANY TIME it is at your premises, so no leaving it on the front drive for the afternoon. Sensible policies state times (overnight).
i have 3 bikes and trying to insure them all is a nightmare.
you can't have 2 separate policies with the same firm one fully comp and 1 3rd party. you can't use your NCB on both. i hate insurance companies they just live to shaft people left right and center.
i can only ride 1 at a time so when can't i have separate policies to my liking. and use the NCB i've earn't.
ALSO having not had a car for 12 years i'm buggered if i want to insure one as my NCB was earn't on a bike and not transferable. :censored:
they are the most Zero common sense organisations you will ever deal with. :gun_bandana: :gun_bandana: :shit:
I was insured with MCE but at renewal time they priced themelves out of the market so I went with Bennets. More cover, less money!
kawasaki insurance seemed to have my vote at the moment, £129 fully comp with PNCB  not sure anyone can beat that.
I keep three bikes on the road at any one time and have a multi - bike policy with Footman James. The main rule that seems to apply to all such policies that I have seen is that the number of "classics" must always exceed the number of "modern" bikes.
My riding other bikes entitlement is also limited to machines that are over 20 years old.

Well Adelaide (Or Cornsure as they are now), came up trumps, from £318 down to £127, also told them I'm no longer an IAM member, "That doesn't matter sir", really?............I thought they only discounted for IAM members, wasn't that the point?......go figure.
Just done mine for 1000 Versys 013, with SAGA, £131.93 with no-claims protection, legal expences, and personal accident cover. I used MCN compare, and if you go on, put your details in look at the cheapest, then look at the dearest qoute, compare the 2, you will more than likely find that they are both with the same insurer AND offering the same cover. you decide :listencarefully: It's a minefield,. I always go with the cheapest quote, after the realization many years ago that insurance companies/brokers NEVER show loyalty to their existing customers. We do the same with car insurance, always take the cheapest quote. Then pray that you dont need to use them :sweatdrop:. But when an old dear smashed into the back of our Grand Vitara whilst trying to park in between it, and another parked vehicle, and causing 3 grands worth of damage, our insurance stepped forward and were simply fantastic. A hire car (Freelander) on our drive the next morning, recovery truck arrived later the same day to take our Suzuki for repair. A daily  report on how the repairs were progressing, 2 weeks later the car was back on the transported for delivery back to us, and an hour after it arrived 2 chaps rolled up to take the hire car away. The repair was fantastic the service absolutely top notch, no paper work no hassle, just utter perfection. All from the company that provided the (far) cheapest quote.
