Title: condensation
Post by: tapps on February 01, 2015, 06:58:34 PM
i had my gtr serviced a couple of months ago,oil & oil filter,i managed to get it out today,on my return while washing it,then applying ACF50 to the wheels ect ect i noticed the window where you check the oil had condensation in it,i removed the engine oil filler cap to find a very small amount of sludge on the inside of the filler cap,is this something to worry about or is it simply lack of use,as i have another bike as well as the gtr,so it's not being used that often.i may change the oil & filter when it warm's up a little.

Tapps .... even I know thats down to lack of use  :mfr_lol:  Short journeys when the engine doesn't really get very hot .. get home, switch off, leave bike, condensation forms and oil turns to sludge .... even in these cold winter months take it out for an hour or so, get that engine hot and it will evaporate any water or condensation in the engine .. problem solved.

As Rusty says.

Cold, on a warm glass window, will cause condensation on the inside of a confined space.

Come on over to my side of the pond.  You can ride as many miles as you desire.  Mid 50's now, was mid 70's when I rode earlier today. Gonna rain for a couple of days, but soon will be in the 70's+, every day... I would love to ride there, especially at the Isle of Man.  Been a dream of mine for decades..... tp
