Title: Sidestand pivoting
Post by: exBanditOwner on January 12, 2015, 09:04:51 AM
Hello new friends,

how do you all maneuver your GTR's in confined spaces? with the Bandit, i could balance the whole bike up on the sidestand with both wheels off the floor and simply spin it 180º. I attempted the same feat this morning after reversing out the garage and the sidestand looked like it was going to bend in half way before any wheels came up. So i did a 3273 point turn instead.

wonder if there are bike spinners on the market? either that or i'll have to install a turntable in the patio.

Hello new friend

I bend the side stand just getting on the bike  just ask the Wolf  :mfr_lol:

I have the same problem and am unsure of the best / cost effective turntable solution.

It will be interesting to see what the team come up with

Have you discovered the progress zone between 6.5 - 9k rpm yet  :mfr_lol:

Look forward to meeting up some day  :scooter:

Charlie

Wow, that is brilliant-I want one! I've been paddling my bike backward and it always feels a bit 'iffy' especially as I only have a little bit of paved area and have to do the rest on uneven grass. Thanks for the heads-up.

A really good idea,,,,,,,,,,

but then again, if you've got that much space in the garage you could buy 3 more bikes

I used to have one of the plastic ones and it worked fine, but if I need to turn the bike around I back it out, ride it around the car park and reverse it in, all whilst in the saddle. You just need longer legs is all :-). I gave my turntable away years ago.

Sent from my tablet using Forum Fiend v1.3.

I have long legs and two garages, I either wheel it out or do a U turn in the garage.

But a good idea that though.

I know its a GS site but take a look at Nippy Normans .. he sells a bike trolly made by Wunderlech ... small and easy to move around ... I don't have one yet but when I follow Mr Wolf and do my garage up I shall invest in one at that point .....

Hopefully a little helpfull advice i made this turntable a couple of years ago with the lazy susan.i put a plate on top and underneath, the whole thing is now 1/2 inch plus thick and it makes for hard work to get some bikes up onto the centre stand. the second turntable i made was 2 3mm thick mild steel plates about 14 inches square with a hole in the middle and a bolt and nylock nut .smeared a bit of general purpose grease between the two plates and works a treat ,also has a much lower profile so easier to put the bike on.

Years ago I bought an Abba turntable (please no abba jokes  :mfr_lol:) which looked much the same thing, I'm sure it's still in my garage so where.
