Title: Introduction
Post by: Black Flash on May 12, 2011, 09:09:48 PM
Hello all,

Been following the chat on this forum, as i have been a member on another GTR forum. I must admit here is more going on on this one, which can only be good.
I own a 57 plate, power commander fitted, secondary flies removed ( which is of a benefit, if you have had it maped properly) k/n filter fitted, remus hexagone exhaust and film fitted to panniers. I think that is all at present.

Own 3 bikes at present. My pride and joy Suzuki Intruder 1500 LC on a 1999 plate, just for crusing, saved from an unloved garage. SP1 for playing around Oulton park as i live locally, and my touring GTR 1400, MY FIRST kAWASAKI THAT i have OWNED SINCE I HAVE been riding bikes for 34yrs.

like the idea of Swallow Falls, as living local to Oswestry, i pass it on a regular basis while having a blast, usally on the weekends.

Hope to spend more time on this frum, all the best all, cheers Black Flash.

Hi Black Flash and welcome to the forum.

I've had a Corbin seat. I think I recall you looking for one on the other forum (1400gtr). It was good but ultimately too hard. Because it pushed you lower and further back, I was alway reaching for the bars and in the end it started to aggravate an old shoulder impingement injury. I've found with the stock seat I don't have any issues (except for getting crushed by the tank now and then!)

Oulton park you say? I'm planning on doing a track day there soon if you fancy it.

Thank you for your welcome.

Swallow falls does appeal to me, and i will try to attend. I can reccomend the area as (1) a local place of natural beauty, (2) great riding area,(3) LLanberis pass etc,Bettys Coed, a pleasant chill out area. Pondorosa Cafe at Horseshoe pass near LLangollen is a must for bikers!! Cheap all day breakfast is a bonus.

As to the right site, for  B/F, you have never seen me ride, chilled one moment, red mist the next. Having had the improvements done to the engine etc, 1/4 gear max power output, with the acceleration hang on, 5/6 back into cruise mode, i just chill .Have had lots of different bikes in the past, i do like the engine and gearbox of the GTR, being a shortass, 5/10/ 5/11 depending on which leg i am standing on.( In the 1970's my C/B  handle was Short instep (previous bike accident)  I do have an issue like most of my statue, even though i have a Corbin Seat fitted, which is comfortable, and having tried a 2008+ Handle bar risers(which do not fit my 57 plate GTR). (Will try the correct bar risers), i do as others suffer with numb wrists, do to the angle of the handle bars, on a longish trip!!!

Cheers B/F

Hello Norman,

Will be going to Oultan park with my mates on the SP1 on May 21st (weather permitting) even though i will be running PR 2+ C'S tyres.

Great day out, if you have not been. I find it a challenge switching from a staight four (plenty of rev range) to an out an out sports v twin of an SP1.

As this will only be my second track day, i will be in the novice group. Some of my quicker mates with be in the next level.

If you wish to join us, give us a shout on the forum, with a contact/no and i will give you a bell.

Cheers B/F

Hi BF,

Which company is doing Sat 21st? I've checked Hottrax, nolimits, and focused events and none of them are have Oulton showing for the 21st?

I'm in the beginners group as well. My mate once said to me "I've seen you ride you Kawasaki faster then you do the track bike"

Hello Norman,

The company running the 21st, is Club M.S.V. tel/no 0843 453 3000.

On the web, it says they are sold out for thr novice group. This was the case when i went, but usually they will find you a place. Give them a ring.

Who is your mate? that has been spying.

Cheers B/F

Hi Norman, if you have never been on the track, the intermediates are quick. I see you have MotoGP stamp, so i take it that you have tracked before.

What bike will be riding?

Cheers B/F

Just a thought about track days,(this will be only the second time).

Every one is travelling in the same direction, there is a specfic racing line, so if some one is quicker than yourself, then there is plenty of passing places and wide track space.

You only have 8 laps max at a time, and if you wish, you can have instruction by usually an ex racer or pro, on how to improve you riding skills. As is not alll about trying to get your knee scraping along the ground,(although the first time you do it it, you do get a rush) far from it.
What i learnt, i took onto the road and was a smoother rider after i felt.

I was very apprehensive the first time i went, but was very pleased that you have three different categories of riders. Novice (which is me) Intermediate(my mates), Pro and they are quick and short of a few brain cells.

I enjoyed the first track day, but was shattred by the end of the day. I always say, you are only here once, give it a go!!!

Cheers B/F
