Ok chaps and (Debs), after much consideration and many phone calls over the last few weeks the destination for the 2015 GTR meet has been decided upon and is now available to book. The dates are Friday 5th June & Saturday 6th June 2015 departing on the Sunday morning for those who can make the entire weekend. Day trippers are obviously also welcome as are those who may only be able to stay one night.
However there is a twist, this year there are two venues, both owned by the same chain within the same location and only a two minute drive or ten minute walk apart. The reason for this is that I have discovered that high occupancy affordable accommodation in this part of the country is few and far between! Each respective venue only has a handful of single rooms and approximately fourteen double rooms and therefore it is on a first come, first served basis. Perhaps some members may be willing to share double rooms with others to make this more affordable.
Therefore please have a look at the two links below and see which accommodation appeals to you, but remember we will be using both venues. I am assured the prices are the same at each venue, however the food which is available differs within each establishment. So choose wisely!
The tariffs are as follows:
Single Rooms at £50-£55 per person, per night which includes breakfast.
Double Rooms at £110 per room, per night, (
not per person) based on two sharing which includes breakfast.
Double Rooms at £90 per room, per night based on a single occupancy.
I appreciate that these prices are slightly higher than what we have paid in recent years in other parts of the UK however this is Gods Country and trust me you will not be disappointed, (unless it rains). :whistling:

I'm also going - I took Zebedee's spare room. Uncertain whether it's a solo trip or accompanied by the Boss, at the moment she does intend to make the trip! If not, I will ask my daughter if she would like to join us all - she does ride a Honda though.
count me and the wingman in as a day tripper
Just had to cancel my booking at the Kingshead if anyone requires a double room - just had dates through for my gastric bypass so will be unable to make the meet - sorry guys was looking forward to putting faces to names.
Perhaps next time. I know you will all have a great time anyway :)

Cheryl and I will be taking a gentle bimble up on Friday.
Anyone care to join us ?
Charlie it would be easy for me to join you for the trip up, however I will be on my new bike and it will be its first journey of any kind, so "running in" which may not suit you?
Please feel free to decline!
hi Flatfour how slow is running in speed?
Tim, I think that there will be no problem with outright speed, national limits should be fine. The crucial point is acceleration and I expect to be using no more than 1/3 to 1/2 throttle for the first 500 miles (pretty much the whole weekend, I think). I might also be two - up. This could all mess up overtakes if we are a group.
The bike is a Versys 1000 GT, so probably lots on this site are more familiar with it than I am after a few miles on the demonstrator. I cannot collect it until the day before the meet.
Most of all, I don't want to delay or inconvenience anyone else, so am entirely happy to plod on alone either by planning it that way or, if already en - route and I prove too slow for others, by breaking away. In all honesty, if a few of you are riding together, you are probably better off without me as part of the group for this trip, at least.
I do need to use this bike for the weekend of the meet though, as only a short while afterward I lead my own small group to Spa and the Harz Mountains, so it must be run - in, serviced and I must be familiar with it by that time.
ok see you at Swaffham 9am on Friday 5th June
O.C., lock up yer H2. :help:
Boomer is in the Lake District.
Near Cockermouth for the week.

You will love riding around here,... apart from the senile delinquents doing 20mph everywhere and the bloody caravans!
Have fun up here y'all.
Ladies and gents.
Very sorry about this I have just cancelled my single room at the Kings head.
If any one interested contact them quickly.
Due to being made redundant in November I have applied for a new job don't laugh as a bus / coach-driver.
I have passed my theory, hazard awareness, case study ,and driver assessment .
It's a long drawn out process. But today the phoned and and told me my 16 days driving then test starts May 26th. :censored:
So I'm afraid work takes priority.
I wish you all safe riding and having a good time it is a shame I cannot catch up with old faces and new ones looking forward to the pictures and stories
I will be pestering for the 2016 meet :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
Tony sorry to hear you can't make it, good luck with your driver training
Shame on you Pross but great stuff on ya new career ;)
Thanks Tim and Zeb.
Ime gutted to miss it I was counting the days down had planned my route .

You will have to ram someone else Tim :mfr_lol: :whistling: sorry lol
IF my bike does not breakdown anymore :ohplease: SWiMBO and I will be at The Lodge on Thursday through to Sunday morning.

Nothing I would have liked more than to go to the meet Viper.
But an income is a must since redundancy in November. I really enjoyed the belfry meet last time.

Its reasonably early as we'll be setting off at 08:30. Asif never has any fuel in his bike so he'll need to get that sorted 1st off and then I'll have to explain where we are going as he thought Keswick was out his way, near Huddersfield......this is what I'm up against! :whistling:
Ladies and gents.
I am gutted to miss this gathering as some of you are aware.
My test is scheduled for Saturday around 1pm.
I will take this opportunity to wish you all a fantastic meet and all safe and incident free rides.

Sooooo true  :biker3:
Just a thought ....as there a re a couple of accomodation options is there one place where everyone is meeting up together that I should head for ? I'm assuming the Kings Head
Yes the RV is the Kings Head.
Cheers Steve..see you there
I'm at the lodge, waiting to check in. Will go the Kings Head for mid afternoon to see everyone.
There's more people going that have said. All welcome, the more the merrier!
Steve and I will be there around 11ish. I could get there for 10 probably, but with Steve its be a slow, leisurely ride :mfr_lol:
And I could have probably got there for 09:30 but Asif will as I've said need to fuel up, then fart around connecting his heated vest, connect up his music system, he'll need a nap on route as its a long way and he'll probably have to take some work calls on route.
I wonder how many of those observations I've actually got right! We will see. :mfr_lol:

:mfr_lol: They aren't routes for the faint hearted :nono:
I've done the route, (Hardknott) a few times on various bikes over the years and it is genuinely the most demanding route I've ever done.
Just a quick up date from the front.
Stoketim and Charlie747 met up at Sleaford. Charlie going to Burger King while Stoketim hit McDonalds.
As Colin pointed out with one half of The Wolf Charlie RV navigation specialist team at work we were lucky to meet :whistling:
Using Zebs route we were subjected to some beautiful roads and scenery lunching at The Cat & Fiddle midday.
Then once off the M6 and into the lakes more breath taking views as we traveled to the Kings Head for beer food banter.
If you can make it we all would love to meet you
Well I'm up, the bike is prepped, and I'll be going to the RV point to meet Asif in just over an hour. Looking forward to the ride up, the weather looks decent so far.
Bright, dry but windy here
A big thanks to Gary who on his beautiful carbon blinged bike showed the rest of us some lovely routes on Saturday morning. Which culminated in coffee and burgers in a harbour by a lake. Fuelled by a caffeine carb and protein rush Neal proceeded to perform alfresco baffle removal and remap on the road side. The rest of us passed a hat around the gathered crowd of on lookers and made a tidy sum £££££. This was good as due to caffeine intake / wind chill and possible age etc a search party was sent out to find the loo who's price of admission was 8bob :sweatdrop:
We said our good byes to a heading home Gary who's wife had informed him by phone 5 mins before that it was sunny and 20C + back home in Yorkshire.
Time to elected a new leader.
After many recounts Colin as self appointed returning office informed us that he had followed Neal for at least 10000 miles around Europe and he was confident that Neal could and would get the remaining party back to the hotel eventually. But that more importantly Neal was in total tune with Colin's Caffine Cravings & Nicotine Needs and would allow comfort breaks at the relevant periods. This new responsibility came naturally to a man of Neals standing and he proceeded to sit down on a bench and stare blankly into the screen of his smart phone in the search for as he put it Green Bits.
Neal launched the herd / flock / gaggle of survivors at the nearest mountain and the game was on.....................
Just as with Gary in the morning a big thanks goes to Neal for taking us all through some breath taking scenery to arrive at Mrs Migens Ye Olde Tea Rooms for a well timed warm up and refreshments.
While the largest BMI member of the group sat nibbling on a nice fruit scone other far thinner members went for Bombay Bad Boy Chilli Jkt Spud with extra chilli. / Steak pie and chips / even a double pud player with cheesecake and apple pie
Suitably refreshed and fortified the group saddled up and rushed to the nearest petrol station to top up (mars bars twix etc) then onto the Kings Head to meet up with Senior and Global Management for wheel rim inspection.
Inspection was followed by finger prints DNA swabs and mug shots. The Wolf worked overtime that night :whistling:
The night followed with much mass eating drinking and banter.....................but that's another story to be told by another
It really was great to meet up and put a face to a name. Many thanks to you all for makeing he weekend one to Rember.
Roll on 2016. The whisper on the street was Galway is nice this time of year :whistling:

Lovely write up young Charlie.
I am glad all enjoyed themselves and no riding incidents and all will reach there destinations safely.

Well Asif and I got back safe last night after a great meet up with you all. Hopefully everyone who attended enjoyed themselves and found the location worth the trip and if you didn't attend for one reason or another then hopefully we'll see you next year.
I can recall Charlie saying, "I'll have a drink waiting for ya when you arrive Steve", but nearly all the gang were out, we passed them in Ambleside on our route in. We were however met by Colin, (flatfour) and shortly after Neil (Viper) arrived.
Here's some photos from the our visit.
The Kings Head has no mobile phone coverage at all, however they have set a challenge to anyone, lodger, passing salesman, walker, biker, in fact anyone who can get at least one signal bar on their phone. Was anyone up for the challenge? :whistling:
Colin definitely was.......

We had a visit from Geoff & Roger, a.k.a 100milesaway and OC. After a spot of lunch and a chat they made a move on their steeds.

Charlie then caught sight of a bit of bling out of the corner of his eye and a you could almost see his mind ticking over, I believe he's going into production as we speak. :mfr_lol: .

John made friends with a couple of Border Collies which arrived while we were all outside.
(http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s139/Jaffa_Cake101/Kawasaki%201400%20GTR%20Meet%202015/DSC_8389_zpsqbgeybnw.jpg) (http://s151.photobucket.com/user/Jaffa_Cake101/media/Kawasaki%201400%20GTR%20Meet%202015/DSC_8389_zpsqbgeybnw.jpg.html)
Asif then decided this was a great opportunity to test ride Neil's Top Sellerie seat so there was a bit of swopping of the seats and off he went into the sunset. Some said he was going home and that was the last Neil would ever see of his seat but he did eventually return and the man from Del Mont'e say yes, he liked the seat.

And finally we were all seated for our evening cuisine.

And then after the meal, as the sun set slowly in the west, Asif, Neil and I rode off into the distance and the meet for us was over until next year.

Great pics, as usual, Steve and a nice report too, Geoff and I enjoyed the ride over despite the very strong winds across the North Yorkshire Dales and I'm glad that Geoff was able to join me for the ride over.
I enjoyed saying hello again and the banter that ensued , its been quite a while since we met.
Sorry that we missed the other lads (and lasses) who were on a ride out but it's good to hear that they had a good time in what is a beautiful part of the world, there aren't many better places to get lost whilst riding a bike :mfr_lol:
Great pictures they make me look so youthful
I had a great time really enjoyed the ride outs and meeting everyone. Still reeling in shock after discussing Charlie's thong. Let's do one next week end!

Now if you had promised to bring the mans machine with you I would of not left the biuilding till the blue clouds drowned what little sun light till the eerie full eclipse light levels anonced the arrival of the sweet sounding sympathy of hells fury in the shape of an OC mounted on his trusty steed known as H2 :punk:
Urgent Report for Stoketim eyes only
Incoming food warning !
We had the Roast Beef 3 course 🍴 last night 👍
Smoked Salmon On a bed of rocket and capers garnished with lemon
2 slabs of roast beef with the richest mash crispest roast potato
Lemon Possett
Alas no cheese board
Cheryl complained of feeling stuffed............at this point I've said to much other than I had a good go at emptying the Cocker Hop pump :mfr_lol:
Charlie I don't know where you get this idea that I like my food and beer :mfr_lol:
Well home first time round this year happy days, good to meet old faces again literally ,pleasure to meet new ones.

The Versys has had its first service today and the GT kit fitted, so is ready for more work.
Hope to see everyone again soon.

I just don't know how he did it..................He was telling me after I parked the old war horse on myself in the Belfry car park I had blue lips and needed to chill as he was worried I was about to have a heart attack
Which was so kind of him..................................Little did we all know
Still feel proud to be part of a group of diverse individuals who when asked and were needed answered the call in such a positive constructive way...............

It was a real pleasure to share your company Colin.
So glad to hear that the new toy :scooter: (it looks so good compared with the last model) is finally getting its road warrior armour fitted..............trust its in the right white colour :mfr_lol:
We travelled back yesterday via the Tan Hill Inn and North York Moors...........hit rain a couple of times, traffic on A66 heavy and stationary due to traveller events, stopped for a Costa in the Wetherby services and had the bike vandalised.................such is life.................It did not detract from the enjoyment of meeting you all
After our extended tour Alex and I made it home this morning at 03:30Hrs :sleep1: with the bike on the back of a recovery truck.
Bike just gave up on the A1 at Alnwick. :help: Lots of lights on the dash then nothing. Two 10A fuses and the 30A main had blown. After replacing the fuses the fuse marked "Smart" kept blowing.
Ignition stove knob would turn, neutral and oil lights would come on, but Lcd was blank.
We elected to skip our stay in Hull and get recovered home.
Other than that we had a great time.
Dave sorry to hear about the bike, hopefully it's nothing too serious. On a plus it got you out of going to Hull which lets face it is on a par with Bradford, unless it's absolutely necessary and unavoidable don't go!

Charlie, where on your bike did they scratch it?
Charlie & Dokter Dave, sorry to learn of your respective problems on the journey home. Good to meet you at the gathering.
Do they not have some CCTV?
Stoke Tim and I rode back across Yorkshire and then split up at the A1M M1 junction. I rode across snake pass which said it was closed but I rode up it anyway and it wasn't... Snake pass all to myself 😍
Had a very good weekend thanks everyone....

We went for a ride out in the wind and rain up hill and down dale in some beautiful scenery while others sat by the fireside and drank coffee and hot chocolate chatting and putting the world straight. :mfr_lol:

hi Stephan and lizette we missed you too. we did have ride out, a very windy one
Is anyone else going to post their photos? There must be some from the Friday night and the ride out.
Steve I have some, although as I was in at the dealers for all of Monday for the GT kit to be fitted and then away for work until last night, I haven't looked at them yet.
I will take a look and if I may, send you the best for inclusion on the site. (As you may remember, my skills are not good enough to manage this myself!).
Colin, no problem, when you get a chance send them to me and I'll post them for you. If you send them to
that should work.
