Hi , just signed up to get some info on the GTR.
Currently have a 2010 GSX1250fa and am considering changing for 2015. Off to the NEC next weekend to have a look at models but so far the GTR is my preference - have liked it for ages.
Typically do 2,000 plus miles Europe ever year on a trip and another 3-4,000 in the UK

:185: Kev.. You will get all the info you need here..
Hi and welcome, it's certainly a bike worth considering and will chew those miles up in comfort...

Hi Kev,
Welcome and a big biker wave to you from Cardiff. I've done a few trips on the GTR to France, Belgium and Amsterdam and I've done Scotland several times on it.
It's a great bike for covering the miles.
I've been to Hungary twice on my GTR.. Lovely bike for mile munching
Thanks all for the welcome.
Looking forward to NEC to see all the 2015 models. As I said at the moment the GTR is looking favourite for my next mount. As I see it :
K1600 - great but cost too much
Rt1200 - always loved these but not sure the new model is better than the old and more of a solo ride than two up ( one of the reasons I want to trade up from the GSX - going to do much more two up touring)
FJR - not sure it offers anything over the GTR and doesn't look as good
Trophy - would be to worried about it breaking down ( probably unfair I know) and it's to much like a armchair on wheels ( I want a sports tourer )
ST - might as well stick with the GSX
Don't want to be a boardman look alike so that rules out all the " adventure" bikes
Welcome any thoughts on my thinking above
Kev
Hello and welcome.
I like your reasoning process and I think Yamaha have made 2 bad decisions with the FJR, 1- only using a 5 speed gbox when even if 6th was an overdrive if would be massively helpful and 2- not recommending fitment of a topbox  anyone doing a 2 up tour is going to need one.
Just my thoughts
Don't dismiss the new RT. It is awesome.
Have you read the RiDE review from last months issue? Accurate review of the FJR/RT/Trophy
1400GTR is a great machine but getting long in the tooth, quite top heavy and needs riding hard. Pillion position is quite high pegged.
Feels like it's made of granite!
Great bike though.

Hi
I am a recent joiner and GTR1400 owner, absolutely everything that you need to know is in here somewhere and if you cant find it then someone will always point you in the right direction.
Before buying my GTR I tried the new RT, a K1300GT and a Trophy. When I decided to change my old bike I had my heart set on a K1300GT, I rode one and it was great and I was about to buy it until I thought that I might as well at least try the others. The Trophy was too big and a bit boring...the GTR took my breath away. It was just so easy to ride, you can amble around nice and gently or you can launch it...hit 4500 rpm and hold on. I bought the GTR and love it. Costs less to service and was £1000 cheaper than the BMW and a lot more fun. A couple of days ago I missed the heated seat though!
Welcome!
:) welcome :) GTR Rocks

Welcome along...as WS says don't dismiss the RT without looking it over,....the GTR is a great bike and manages to tick a lot of boxes, it is, however, a little 'long in the tooth' nowadays, maybe a new model will be even better

Looks like Lloyd Coopers showroom ?
If you had bought it from Bournemouth Kawasaki you could have got it today. They are open as they have 32 new bikes being collected by customers.
