Well my fun with the z1000 has to come to and end ,some muppet my wife knows told her how bad the z is for me with no protection and a heart atttack.now looking at either versys 650 or 1000 ,brand new versys 650 grand tourer is less than 10,000 euro. but am wondering would it be gutless. Thing the looks on the 1000 might be an acquired taste but not to worried.Help please cant go back to gtr to big for me in the morning.
John good to hear from you, hope all is well. I believe Dave (2kwacks) initially bought a Versys 650 but then binned it off for the 1000 for the very reason you have suggested, i.e. that it was gutless.
would the new z 1000 sx not be ok for you mich lighter thann thr gtr has luggage and a fairing also abs , looks really well in the new red colour,
looked at the z 1sx but no protection on that, looking at versys type.
i would have thought that the z 1000 sx had more protection than the versy's or am i missing the point somewere???
you could be right but i though from reading up on it that you would have to buy a touring screen for the zx
I had a 650 and found it to be a excellent bike ,a very punchy twin ,any gear twist the throttle and away it went ,the low down pull would gain yards on bigger bikes plus fantastic lightweight handerling, that's why kawasaki sells loads of them , this is the same bike raced in the tt , to call it gutless is way off the mark ,
The Versys 1000, is an extremely capable and good value bike, its also bloody comfortable, don't dismiss it without taking a peek.
The 2015 now available.

thxs for replies personally i like the look of the 650 over the 1000 and to be honest the days of bombing along slowly losing appeal where as comfort value and fun on the twisties is what i am after ,also able to tour is paramount .thxs for reply regarding 650 as didnt know enough about them .
Also 650 is nicely priced might even be able to stretch to buy new one 9500 euro for the tourer hmm has me thinking

The 650 Versys is a stonking bike, but you do have to rev them. No issues, as reliable as they come, a super little bike for not a lot of money. BUT The 1000 Versys is a better bike, lovely smooth 4 cylinder engine with all the grunt just where you want it, ie low down and mid range. It is also the most comfy bike that me and my good lady have ever owned. No issues, no recalls, just a great fuss free bike. Try one and be amazed.
I think the 1000 has it by a country mile .....
