Hi-ya everybody, My name is Geoff, I live in Leyburn North Yorkshire, and am about to buy a new but 09 model blue gtr, What can expect mileage wise on fuel, I ride smooth but I do like to get a move on. Will the bike be happy on the kind of roads I ride on ie Yorkshire dales, Durham, Lake district, Scotland, etc, I avoid motorways, and do all my biking on A and B roads, will the bike be at home in this kind of environment? What mileage could I expect from tyres?,any comments most welcome. cheers Geoff.
Hi there Geoff. Another Northern member & of course you are very welcome. There's a recent thread which you will find about mileage and the majority of us are getting either high 40's i.e. 47-49 mpg but the those of us who dont thrash it everywhere are managing 50mpg+. ;D ;D
The bike is a mile muncher and is in its element on motorways etc but its equally at home and capable on the A & B roads which you mention. I'm reguarly up in the Lakes & in and around North Yorks and the bike thrives in this environment. Trust me there will be NO disappointment! The last set of tyres I had on were the Bridgestones and I managed to get 7000+ from front and rear which I was happy with. I've just switched to the Michelin PR3's which have astounding grip but being a slightly softer compound may not be as durable but I'd much rather have the grip than the high mileage ability of a tyre.
Have a good look on the threads and you will find huge quantities of info which will be of interest to you.
Steve
Hi and welcome Geoff.
I also live in Yorkshire and trust me, the GTR is more than capable of handling the twisities. I would suggest getting some decent tyres as the stock Bridgestone BT021s are pants.
Mine has been known to go round twisties ;D
MPG - around 46-52ish
Dump the Bridgestones and get Pirelli ST Angels or PR3's (or anything except the OEMs)
Hello Winston, i think i have spoken to you on another forum. I achievE IN THE HIGH 40's when i am being calm, but i do achieve low 30's when i am having fun.
Just changed to PR3'S from the original Bridgestone's, boy WHAT a difference, great in dry, apprentley brill in wet?. Not been there yet.
All the best B/F
