Hi all just a quick question my GTR is going in for it 11750 service just wondering what people have been paying at dealership.
Thank
Uk9876
Didn't know they had a playstation or xbox :mfr_lol:
The 11250 service is a kick the tyres and check everything is tightened up and full ... does it really need a dealership?
I'll too be interested to see what people pay ... I'm only intending havng mine done at the 7500 mile intervals (9-10 months for me).
Only reason it going in is to keep the warranty for the bike.
Right from the second service i have done everything myself, in fact i have done more than Kawasaki recommend because i want my bike to be as near perfect as i can get it. You dont need the dealer to service your bike to keep the warranty up to date, only ensure that the bike is done correctly using proper parts etc, which is what i do.
I just went over 20k miles last weekend in Belgium and i have to say this bike is the best i have ever had, so much so that for the first time ever i have had the brake and clutch fluid changed as well as the coolant, never before have i bothered.
I shall keep it until next September when it will be 4 years old and decide what i am going to do, if i sell it i will probably get the Versys 1000, unless OC persuades me to get one like his.

I have now been totally put off my Surrey dealer. He proved too expensive, argued over damage to plastics and I lost confidence in their reputation. Following a disasterous service I also saw my fuel consumption go from 55 mpg to 48 mpg and the performance was no longer present. I have just booked my 10 plate in for MOT/yearly service with a dealer on the South coast and was promised a loan bike for the day. Within 15 minutes I got a return call to say there was an outstanding recall but the parts had been be ordered and would be fitted during service. I did not think the brake pedal recall related to my model so was this missed in November 2013?
Is the dealer to which you are referring in Guildford by chance ?
Yes it is - this is a quote from a post by a member in Aldershot "I have recently had warranty work and 7500 mile service at Portmans Guildford ... Charged £400 for service with is way to
Expensive.. Staff rude and obnoxious.. They have just lost their
Kawasaki dealership entitlement but can still service and do warranty work
I will never use them again and am considering changing the bike" - shame I never saw that post and lucky him because that service cost me £600+ and I now know why they missed the safety recall. Brilliant service by Alfs Worthing who were concerned about 2 helicoils in the rear brake caliper and that would be Portmans replacing the pads for the first time. Unfortunately their website uses Kawasaki layout for all aspects of dealership when their business leaves much to be desired.
What a crock they are! Here's my tale. When looking for 2010 GTR's I saw they had one with low mileage up for sale. I asked them if they were interested in a trade in 2006 tiger 955i. I sent pics details and we agreed a trade in price against their GTR and I asked for the bike to be ready to ride away if I came down and was happy with test ride. They said yes.
I rode the tiger all the way there from Devon and arrived there only to be told by partner/brother there that the deal was off as it wasn't agreed between them and they already had a tiger 1050 for sale. The othe partner was unavailable so not a lot I could do. Mighty peeved, I rode back but a considered selling privately the tiger as this GTR was mint, low miles and was only a year old.
Undeterred I rang them up and agreed a cash price for the bike(£9900from £10199). I had already got a firm trade offer for my tiger so said to Portman that if I secured the sale of tiger could I put a deposit on the bike the same day. They said yes.
That Saturday I sold the GTR, got the cheque and tried calling Portman all day. They wouldn't confirm the GTR as sold or still for sale unless I paid the full £10199 and basically were rude and obnoxious. Here was me with a firm sale the day before and they treated me like crap.
I got a mate to call on the Monday and they confirmed the bike as sold. Looks like I had a close escape.
A true bunch of muppets- why are they still in business?
Tell them what you think guys - http://www.portmanmotorcycles.com/kawasaki-aftersales-satisfaction.aspx
They have a customer satisfaction page :)
Thanks for that link - I felt better for taking my custom elsewhere - even better for listing the issues in a survey - I shall say more when my request for contact is returned.
I did ring them up for a quote for the "big" service last weekend- just for a laugh really. Here's what they quoted.
For the big service 28k (valve clearances).
£190 for the clearance check with no shim replacement (cams out job).
(£280 - if a cam needs lifting).
I said I needed the bike back at 3pm the same day. No problem! I guess they don't consider the fact that the engine needed to be cold then!
Now if I could guarantee they'd do a job as good as Alfs or Bournemouth K I'd give em the job. Chances are though they'd park the bike up and trouser the wonga.
The website is very misleading - all that glitters etc..
Looked at the Portman site and they show a used 2010 1400 for 7799 British Pounds (with 26K miles) which equals $12,223.00 US Dollars. Your prices are really high. A new 2013 can be bought here for $11,699, with a full 3 year warranty. Requires a greater commitment there to enjoy motorcycling than it does in the states.
Typical labor rate for Kawis is $80 an hour, but the major services are expensive here, too...
If you think our prices are expensive to buy a new Gtr you should look at the costings in Norway. :mfr_lol:
Kind of a long way to go to buy a bike?

Unless of course you already live there as some of our members do.

On KAwi Norway site, showed a 2014 at NOK 296,864, which equals $43,612.28 USD. Is that true? They can be bought here for under $12K. But then again, I've heard that everyone in Norway is rich, as all are involved in the O&G Industry. True or not, that's a lot for a motorcycle. Can't imagine what a Harley would cost there.
Yes that will be about right. Bloody expensive.
Wolf, how are you liking your 1600? How does it compare to the Kawi? They are sweet, for sure.
