Peek-a-boo camera mount, for Drift HD Ghost made from a 'selfie stick', RAM mount ball and RAM mount clamp. I had to get an engineering mate to reinforce the flimsy crimp fitting of the standard camera mount at the bottom of the stick.

Peek-a-boo? Really?
Problem with long mounts is they tend to shake a lot, be interested to see the on board footage when you get it going.

Yes that was my concern. However, at the height shown it is as steady as a rock. Will load some footage next week (only have footage with other riders in front at the moment).
The biking world has indeed gone mad . :embarrassed:

Err, it's a baby/kid's game here. Just did a Google :whistling:

How else would you mount it centrally so that there's no fairing/screen in the way?
I've just seen this post..... you can't be serious in riding that on the road!
I know I've done some daft things, but talk about 'in the way'..... peek-a-boo - isn't that like, now you see me, now you don't. does that not block your vision? ok, not of the road ahead - but what about the pothole or something else lying in the road.
I'm not one to be health and safety OTT, but I'm not sure I approve of that mount..... its a bit like those people that put sav nav's above the steering wheel in the car......
Sorry, I'll get of my high horse now....
Neil
Does this impair your vision?
What would be the effect of getting hit up the arse by a car. Wouldn't that metal bar be about head height to smash through your visor as you're thrown forward?
What does your insurance company think about it?

Simple truth is, I wouldn't mount something that looked as stupid as that, on any motorbike that I owned. It just looks ridiculous. Sorry. :surrender:

Who cares what it looks like if it's functional? I don't have it on there all the time, only when needed. I use it to follow people and give them a live commentary on their riding which they can then watch at their leisure. As a learning tool it is very useful.
For those concerned about blocked vision ... how tall do you think I am? That's a standard screen at it's lowest setting.
As for safety, it really is a lightweight flimsy bit of kit. Nothing like a hard set of handlebars or sharp piece of broken perspex.

Ok, but if its really to give commentary on someone else's riding, would a helmet cam not be the better option? - properly set up, it points where your looking! at the rider! I have friends who are IAM observers, who run with helmet cams, with intercom and DV recording if required, but usually have to take it home and process it.
I have done stuff for a friend - 1 hour on a Go Pro easily.... the beauty of that was, through Wi Fi, I could connect it to my iPad and give immediate feedback in the car park and talk him through it, especially when he says "I don't do that", I said "really - watch this!", needless to say he was stunned, but it finally got him through his IAM on his third attempt - I had nothing to do with his first 2 attempts.
Unfortunately, people are very repetitive, If you can't spot it in an hour, in my opinion, your just picking up tiredness and potentially bordem... unless they are already at a very high standard and its second nature.
This is just my opinion, and I'm sure you'll have yours....... be safe...one life, live it! and keep it on the black stuff.

I record live (Ghost HD has mic input) and then just put the files on DVD (if the person has a suitable PC) or burn a true DVD for a bog standard player.
Helmet mounting is an option, though I don't want to stick a mount on my crash helmet. The problem I find though is the view keeps jumping around as you check your mirrors, scan, shoulder check etc. (I still have to ride for myself and not let the bike in front take too much attention).
Based on the feedback here I'm now off to explore how the plod bikes mount their extra lights on the mirrors as a possible alternative. Perhaps one of those brackets could be utilised forsaking the central position.
This company does the conversions for the GTR... Best contact them and see if you can buy the mount from them

This film (a bit tongue in cheek) was filmed with a bullet camera mounted just above the offside mirror. Nestled in the join between the mirror housing and the fairing.
The bracket was held in place simply by the black heavy duty (blu tack) sticky stuff. We call it Gorilla Snot which sums it up really. So no drilling. If the gorilla snot is put in place when the surfaces are dry it stays put even in the heaviest rain.
So there is no real detriment in the camera being offset slightly and it is unobtrusive.
