Well I'm off tomorrow for a nice little tour of Europe. Travelling through France to Spain, then maybe back via ferry to Italy, then onto Austria, Germany, Belgium, France then UK. Nothing set in stone, so that might be nothing like the actual tour. I'll let you know how it goes!
Have a great trip and rubber side down all the way mate
Im in Normandy and Mimizan ( south of Bordeaux ) on Sat / Sunday if your down that way then ?

Sounds like a plan :mfr_lol:
Have a good time shaggs :punk:
Hi Ant,
That's a shame mate, I'm hoping to get to Calpe in Spain on Sun to meet up with friends and family until Friday. That's the only part of the trip that's planned lol.
I hope you have a great time too!
That sounds like a fantastic trip.
It's what bikes are for.
Have a safe one.
Well I'm just in a place called saint omer having a couple of beers before crashing out. Was a good day
By the way.... I know I'm loaded up, but does anyone else find the pr4 rear a little twitchy compared to the pr3 at speed? Maybe its due to the GT tyre wall being stiffer?
Make sure its at 42psi and shock quite stiff. We did Reims to Calais ( 172m ) in 2hrs 20 mins last week on pretty much empty roads fully loaded with one stop and was pretty planted all the way.
There is a little movement in warm / hot weather i found on tight twisties , but not straight riding.
Enjoy.
I was in S Omer less than three weeks ago, stayed at the "Grand Bretagne Hotel" just as you enter the town. There were lots of bikes around in the evenings, particularly where all of the cafes and restaurants are, near to the street market.
We went to see the V1 launching site at La Coupole and V2 production facility at the Blockhouse. St Omer aerodrome also has lots of history, being the base that RFC pilots first went to in France during the First World War, whilst awaiting deployment to their squadrons.
Have a good trip.
Well I think its game over. Fi error on bike, no way of starting it, RAC on way, getting ready for a big bill....
Don't quit yet! Have you tried calling Kawasaki for advice?
It'd be a shame if you had to abandon the expedition so early on, hopefully the RAC will sort things out for you. Keep us all updated.
Bike in the garage now, just waiting for the verdict. Not a kwak dealer unfortunately
That's just pants man :(
i hope you manage to get it sorted & may your trip commence,i've had the FI message appear a few time's on my 12 plate,on mine it's always appeared whilst I'm moving.my dealers agreed to run a diagnostic check on it when it's next in for a service.for some reason they don't appear to be to bothered about it.
Oh well, its stuck in the garage. Rac have been fantastic, sorted taxi, hotel, and car hire to get me to Spain. If its not sorted by Friday I'll just fly back early and let the bike get shipped back at some point. Oh well, another time maybe! Not the holiday I wished or planned for, but gotta make the most of it now
One thing that is bugging me is that it failed about 20 min after I filled up. Don't think its fuel though as I still had nearly quarter of a tank and screen is now completely blank apart from fi and red warning and oil pressure lights. No neutral indicator etc, so maybe gear sensor? Probably be mega bucks ecu!
Oh well the bike can't be fixed till the 17th so I've pulled the plug on it and getting it sent back to the UK. Apparently the fuel pump is faulty. Will have to leave the adventure for another time.
that's a real bummer , im so sorry. I have the same year bike as you and was in Germany just a short while ago, could have easily been us!
keep us posted on what the actual problem was, the fix and the costs, it all helps when other members ask or have similar issues.
don't even know where the fuel pump is , does anyone?
Will do yes. Think its at the bottom of the fuel tank, Asif did a post on how to clean the fuel filter if I remember rightly. The garage want 750 euros :asshole: to replace it and wouldn't be able to get the part till the 17th. I asked them to find and fit a second hand unit, but still no joy on timescale, so I'm just trying to get the rac to send the bike back and I'll do it myself as there's a few on ebay for less than 100 quid. Don't think there's much rushing around done in France to be honest!
Sorry, just saw this thread. I have a fuel pump lying about somewhere.
Is it the fuel pump? I'd check all the connectors first
Hi Asif, thanks for the offer mate, but I have one now. ..... As for the comment on the connections, you'd have thought the Kawasaki dealer in France would've done that first, but no! Looks like they've plugged in the diagnostics, telling them it was a fuel pump, but didn't even check the wiring to it to confirm it..... Muppets
