The DVLA will have to find something else to lose in the post!
It's been announced that from January 2015 no more paper counterpart licences will be issued and you can discard yours (subject to the date it was issued).
So no Tax Discs from October and now paper licences from next year.
So what will you do with yours. What's the most novel suggestion for your paper licence.
Surely you can't just throw it in the bin!

I wonder what the car hire firms abroad are going to do, whenever I hire in Greece they want to see the paper part 2 piece?
I presume that this would be an EU thing. I can't remember ever when a 'foreign' tourist ever produced anything other than a photo card. Some, years ago had a passport type licence.
I remember hiring a car in Florida with just my old style paper only licence, which as it had to be bilingual in Welsh as well was the size of a King Size Duvet! The guy unfolded it..... And unfolded it..... Looking for the photo.
He just said, aaah, you crazy Brits... Here's the keys.
:mfr_lol:
so what do us 'older' people do that only have the pinky/green paper license - no photo version?
do we have to change over?
I understood that we don't need to get a new driving license unless we move house/gain speeding points etc.
Ignore me - just read the article properly rather than scanning it - Those who have a paper driving licence issued before the photo-driving licence was introduced in 1998 should also keep their existing licence.
