Title: screen questions
Post by: aljaxon on July 22, 2014, 02:22:32 PM
with a replacement screen is it simply about size?
or does shape/aerodynamics come into it almost as much if not more?
at the moment with my 2010 abs model taller screen if I sit normally, the wind hits the top half of my helmet and buffets me about
if I duck down I am out of the flow so I need the wind to be diverted, say six inches higher
ive just taken the screen off to clean it and remove a few scratches and noticed a crack on two of the mounting holes about 10mm long
should I superglue these? drill a tiny hole to stop them spreading? or bin the screen?

I had the same problem , I fitted the screen from the earlier models ,and now have no bufferting on the helmet ,hot days more air flow , less wind on top half just up the screen ,

after many years of buying many screens, flips and laminar lips and wind tunnel tested this and that ive come to the conclusion there is just no substitute for surface area.

Im selling a MRA touring for £50 if you are interested

so the shorter screen actually deflects the wind higher and over your head?

.      It makes the wind more even instead of just a bit making a flapping noise ,it all depends on how tall you are and how you sit on the bike , I do not like to look thru a screen ,

The screen on my bike also developed a few fine cracks radiating from the mounting holes. It was replaced under warranty at around 18 months and 5,000 miles.

It's a personal preference mate. How you sit on the bike, your helmet type, weather etc you need to try em and see. You could always pop over to Norwich and spend the day with me and try em.
