Because of the good weather I have been riding with the screen in the down position for the last couple of weeks now, i have noticed that i am now achieving 50.4 mpg compared with 46.2 - 47 with the screen up, my riding style has not changed, lets hope the good weather continues.
50mpg??? You must have more self restraint than I have as I get 36mpg and thats using OD+ECO for the boring bits
I reguarly get 50mpg, aint that the norm?

I've tried to exercise restraint and the mpg shoots up. Unfortunately, the restraint quickly wears off
At the moment I am up around 47 mpg, as I have had some fairly easy relaxed rides outs recently but usually its around 45mpg on more progressive rides
Steve
I am averaging around 43-45mpg, it was at 47 on a long motorway run...but never over 50!! ;D
I'm getting 45 - 50 mpg on a 2009 bike. 50 mpg on my Plymouth/Doncaster trips 80 - 90 mph cruising.
My trip to work was 36mpg this morning
I normaly get 43 to 46 depending on how I ride.
At one point over the weekend on the 3 day trip it was upto 50 but ended up at 46. This is comparable to my p[revious CBF so im happy.
On the smae trip my mate on his K1300GT got over 50mpg
Been running the new bike in and at 2800 miles I have 47.3 .... I expect that to change quite soon !
36 MPG youre either on USA setting or your bike needs looking at, i dont know anyone that gets below 42
Fred ... that can't be right ... 36 ?? Unless you cane the arse off it all day but you state that you use the ECO for the boring bits ... I am bewildered ! Anyone else out there got any ideas ... apart from Zedman who may well be spot on .
I'm definitely on th UK settings. I sometimes have a eager throttle hand
Every test of the GTR that I have read (admittedly not many) has been critical of the GTR's fuel consumption and has quoted figures in the 30's so my 36mpg isn't unexpected as far as I am concerned and it is set to UK gals.
Using OD+ECO at NSL on motorways etc gives a current fuel consumption reading of between 60-80mpg so I don't think there is anything wrong with the bike its just the type of riding that I do, I'll always take the scenic route to get to where I'm going.
Been riding for 35yrs and riding on motorways has never been fun. A typical run for me is 200mls and maybe 20mls of that is motorway (sometimes zero) the rest is A B and unclassified roads where you need the drive of the lower gears.
I did three hundred miles yesterday average 43mpg, that was with use of ECO mode, welsh mountain roads and the odd bit of dual carriage way, I am not that light handed with my right hand either, I'm happy with that consumption
Strange that everyone is getting sub 50mpg :o
I suppose I cant complain then at getting what I am current reaching mpg wise. ;D
Mine varies - 47 - 50.6-7
Depends if I'm following you Steve!!

Hi Viv
Looks like we where in the same part of the world yesterday as I was around Bala Porthmadog and Ffestiniog last night but only did 200mls

Ouch, that was cruel! :'( I do my best.... ;D
The MPG doesn't bother me at all, just keep putting the petrol in, petrol= smiles everytime I ride the Beast ;D
Yeak I still get better MPG on the bike than I do in the diesel car so thats a bonus and another valid reason to use the bike more often. ;D
2007 Kawasaki 1400GTR = 43Mpg average over the last 2500 miles.
1998 Honda Legend 3.5V6 = 21Mpg average over last 2 tankfuls.
Yup,.... bike is DEFINATELY cheaper! ;D
Yesterday I accidently discovered how to reset the Average MPG on the display, I thought I was resetting the trip meter after filling up but reset the Average MPG instead.
So previous reading was 47mpg over 6000 miles, a 200 mile ride out as TEC yesterday returned 53.5mpg
Steve
That's a decent result. ;D
Let's see if anyone can beat that!

Not quite, but mine has averaged 53.2 (according to the computer) in the 10,250 miles I have had it. Battering round the back roads noticably reduces that, but my regular commute of 52 miles each way brings it back up.
Martin.
39 mpg according to the computer
Is that from doing your typical motorway speeds though..... ::)
*whistles*
How about this then, had a little ride out today and got some pretty good mpg, 60+ miles into my ride and I was getting 56.5mpg and at the end of my trip after 263 miles I still managed to get 52.8mpg. ;D

I can do 177MPG - just with a little help from PhotoShop!
Deal with that guys!!
::)
I wouldn't know where to start with Photoshop!
