I took my xjr1300 in for the 12K service on Saturday, while it was being worked on I got bored so I decided to look at there 2nd hand bike's,i don't normally bother looking there as they are usually shabby to say the least,if I were to try to sell a 2nd hand bike it would be clean, for some unknown reason they don't bother.in the middle of a row of bike's this one stood out !!!!! a 13 plate YAMAHA FJR1300A with 8k on the clock at the asking price of £9995,it looked cleaner than the new one they had on display, not a mark on it,it had the venture shield applied to the front & side's.i was so tempted to p/x my 1400 GTR.the owner at the dealership saw I was interested & asked if I was thinking of doing a deal,he offered me 8K for my 12 plate GTR without even looking at it,he showed me the pannier's & they looked as if they had never been used,i was so tempted to shake his hand there & then. What is putting me off is the fact that the GTR has just had the 12K service with new pilot road 4's fitted & a further 2 years warranty paid for, with a warranty claim submitted for a new front TPS to be replaced.i'm still wondering should I do the deal,i know it wont be available long.should I ignore the fact that it's there & keep what I have....
Keep the GTR as I reckon £8k is not enough a trade in value.

Never accept the first offer and never buy the first bike you see...that's my golden rule
tell the dealer you've been offered a much better price against a similar bike elsewhere
Not the best PX price i must say,,,,,being as you have new tyres and warranty. But the FJR is a good price to says its not yet run in.
Time for a long think ....................
Tapps - mine was a 12 reg 13,000 miles VGC, i px for a Z1000SX Touring ABS £10,300, i got £8750 for the GTR £8,000 for your bike is nowhere near enough.
What I was overlooking is the 'cost to change', it may well be that the FJR is competitively priced and the dealer therefore hasn't got a big trading margin
Then you'd need to spend a few thou' getting it to handle :-(
