Title: Low fuel warning eliminator
Post by: Kwikasfuki on June 29, 2014, 03:21:45 PM
Anyone interested in a group buy on one of these?

http://www.incontrolne.com/incontrol_9_mar_2014_007.htm

Gets rid of the annoying low fuel message and lets the user retain full control of the other on-board computer functions.

Thinking of getting one. If there's more interest maybe do a group buy?

I know this guy (our beloved B.D.F)..if he goes with the group buy (I already have one...in fact I have all of his gadgets) possibly we might extend from our site as well.

That would be good. Pity you can't wire a LED into it, but hey, can't have everything!

So will this stop the fuel warning altogether or restore use of the dash? I'd prefer the latter, I like getting a warning when  it's low but hate it taking over everything!

This was the original thread on the subject.  Brian is the one that sells these on the website.

First time I got that message, looked down, looked up, about to crash in the rear of a C10, ABS kept me upright, touched the C10,  put a hole in my right fairing, scuffed the C10 left bag, it's a message I can do without thank you very much, along with the low battery TPS messages....

You can press both buttons on the dash and the message goes away. It does, however light up the orange engine light and in the dark that's just as annoying.  :hammer:  It's also a stretch to press both buttons when riding.

I'm not sure who in Kawasaki thought the current flashing display was a good idea , but I wish they'd copied the FJR which just gives you a counter for how many miles you've done on reserve.

you've given me an idea. Why not wire up a switch that does that?

Don't really understand the need for a fuel warning system at all.  You KNOW that you are going to run out as soon as you fill up, its just a matter of time and distance, and you have a fuel gauge AND a range guide.

Running out of fuel is the most common cause of avoidable breakdown
with almost every patrol attending such a call-out (99%). Even more
surprisingly, over half (58%) patrols have been called out for simple
tasks such as topping up windscreen washers and even to repair a
CD player (57%).

if a bike has the old fashion reserve tank then a fuel gauge/system is not needed, but as the gtr does not have a reserve tank then it would be a nightmare without the low warning

you wouldn't want a car without a gauge , so what the difference with the gtr

I'm quite happy with a gauge and a range display.  I just don't need a 3rd reminder to fuel up.  And an annoying/distracting one at that

I've always used the first trip meter and fill up around 200 miles or so unless I'm riding through Nebraska, Wyoming, or Nevada, then it's about 150.

If i see just 2 bars on the dash, i fill up at the first opportunity...it goes down like a rocket after the 3rd bar !!

Agreed the constant flashing is annoying, but its just as Zeb has said....and i ain't pushing it  :surrender:
