After my little trip to France it's that time for a service. Baby will also need the shims doing at BK very soon. To save money I want to try and do some service stuff myself..
Looking at getting these items to start with...

Can anyone else recommend what else I need to be getting/doing/checking to save money.
Thank you.
Welcome back Debs, I trust you had an enjoyable incident free trip.
Pics are required ya know
You can do the oil and air filter yourself ,also the brakes are easy to take out the pads and get some brake cleaner and clean the pistons and calipher ,also take off as much off the plastics as you can which will save dealer time when doing the shims, diff oil change is another easy one ,whether you do head bearings or brake fluid change depends on what been done in the past , but you can cut a big chunk off the price you end up paying ,,,,, :2guns:

You have exactly what I use, changing the fluids is easy provided you can get the old filter off properly, I have a tool for that, brake pads are easy, get some brake cleaner and someone else's toothbrush to clean out the caliper when the pads are out, the only thing of mention is when changing the air filter you have to pop off the tank cover, side cupboard and there are two screws holding a bracket on before you can slide the old filter out, I have done it many times so know what's what.
If your confident of removing fairings then before the shims get checked remove them all to save the dealer charging you labour to do it.
Even greasing your splines is easy, if you get to the meet many of us will be there to show you stuff :mfr_lol:

Go through the service schedule for the relevant mileage in your handbook, make a list of what actually needs doing, as most items are check and tighten only
just do as many of the items that you feel comfortable with, most services don't actually require much replacement , just checking, oil ,filter pads ect are easy, brake fluid change is a bit more challenging , spark plugs are good for 50k miles , so you may not need to do that much I reality.
I did all my own servicing on my zzr1200, I stuck to the service schedule 100 % and I hit every service mile point, it made me feel all good and the bike never let me down apart from a battery
