So apparently you hold down the trigger to get ECO Mode proper. I always thought that the ECO Mode was just the thing that comes on automatically when you drive conservatively. :innocent:
I only discovered it by accident in Normandy when I was being followed by Gendermarie... "what's that extra ECO thing on the display", I thought. "Maybe it only comes on proper when you drive really slowly?" But when I switched off the ignition it was gone, no matter how slowly I rode the old girl. Then it strook me to try holding down the trigger. Voila, ECO mode proper was activated.
Thought I'd post this as I can't be the only muppet that didn't realise this.

It'd be nice if it would remember your decision. I don't bother with it now

Since riding with the pair of you mine goes on and I improve my mpg.....................but forget to take it off (its an age thing) when making progress and worry about damage from a super lean map
Nah, as soon as ya go over 6,000 rpm it switches to full power mode. C'mon people, i don't even own one and I know that. <LOL>

Ditto too :)
The bike should either default to this or have a way to set it in the options (like the linked brake option where you can set it to NOT be in that stupid heavy handed mode!).
It not only save fuel, has minimal impact on performance (it only operates below 6000 rpm) but it smooths out that horrible on/off at the closed throttle position.

It's automatic on new ZZ1400 http://www.ashonbikes.com/content/kawasaki-zzr1400-zx-14-review-0
How do you set the ECO mode to be permanently on? I keep forgetting to enable it before pulling away... Grrrrrr

It doesn't appear as if you can.
