Hi there....
I was searching different GTR forums last night - to find exciting installations and/or how-to mount any radio/FM/MP3 etc. to the bike... I found one in the US forum - quite nice done! But... has anyone of you guys made this? Pictures/stories.... or even links if I missed something! Inspiration is always good....
IN the past i have tried autocom units, but just couldn't get on with the wires...... i now use a Midland BT2 bluetooth unit attached to my helmet and stream music from my iphone wirelessley, sound qaulity is good, and the Midland unit manages my connections to my TomTom, my music etc etc. It also has a facility for a wired connection to an mp3 player or radio, and is easy to use with gloved hands...... there is only one improvement i need to make....i need a bluetooth MP3 player (or bluetooth dongle for my Ipod) so i can do away with using my iphone altogether for music (memory not really big enough, plus the battery sucks and i have to use a battery extender on longer journeys). The nice bit is no installation on the bike, and no wires ;D
Okay... it was more like SPCK1111 - scroll down and see the youtube video here:

OK, i see what you mean now......nope not done that...looks nice though
Sena SMH10 for me. See this thread on a cheap Android phone (http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,379.0.html) that will play both music and handle your calls, pus sat nav and most bases are covered.
Its all streamed via bluetooth to my Sena headset. Even with my Biopact earplug in at motorway speeds I can hear music. That's how loud the speakers are on the Sena
Dunno about mounting on the GTR like the way Goldwing have
Norman!
Since GTR1400 is The step - just before Goldwing - I would pref. to see solution "that way". :P
I already have iPhone "on bike" - but it would be great to have "just radio" and water-splash-profs speakers in it's "own system". Well... I'm not sure... I think I would! Ha Ha Ha....
Anyway.....
I listen to music all the time on my commute, I simply use some custom moulded ear-plugs with speakers built in from http://www.ultimateear.com. Works perfectly off my iPod or Blackberry Torch.
Naturally you cannot really adjust volume or change tracks on the move, but I find playlists and putting the player on random works perfectly.
I have never grasped the reasons for speakers on a bike. A helmet, all that wind noise, and hopefully earplugs all mean that the surrounding cars/pedestrians/low flying aircraft will probably get a better enjoyment of your music ;D
