Thanks, do peeps encounter problems with brake discs on these machines?
Some do some don't as far as I can tell they can warp during excessive use eg touring in mountainous regions.

Always keep your disk bobbins rotated and you will have no problems, ignore them and they may well warp.
Alan
Congratulations, you've got a great deal there. As Al has said, keep the bobbins on your disc's free, they can tend to get encrusted with brake dust etc.
All you need to do now is book some time off work and come to this years GTR meet!

Those round things between the outer disk and the inner disk mounting, there bobbins and should be free to rotate enabling the disk to "float" as it's called, I tend to clean them on a Saturday with a nut and bolt tightened up and spray with brake cleaner, takes five minutes.

I'm on it, how do I book it?
Debs it's a 10mm socket head, although they will move don't expect them to spin round freely like spinning a wheel, they will be stiff but the key is to free them up so that they are not seized.

I think my bold is a 12mm as its a 17mm spanner, i cut it down a bit and simply bolt it on, nip it up tight then squirt brake cleaner on the bobbon, then rotate it squirting more cleaner, it will free up and stop disks warping and the braked will be more efficient.
See the video, bit long winded but it shows what to do.

I removed my disk pads and unbolted the caliper from the bike and blasted brake cleaner through them and wiped a cloth through as well.
Reassembled using copperslipp on bolts and back of pads.

Even a GTR with ABS would make stopping hard if you copper slipped the front of the pads.

Steve, I think he means, try getting your callipers back on without opening up the gap where the discs go........if your pistons are working as they should, you can open the gap with your fingers.
On one calliper, put a thin bit of wood between the two pads and squeeze the other 2 open, then repeat using a larger piece of wood for the ones you have just opened.
Works better with the reservoir cap off.
Perhaps not the best explanation in world !
Correct on both parts, don't put copper slip on pad faces lol and open pads up a little to make refitting easier, I do this with pads out with my fingers.

done the brakes today good and bad news as wolf and Bigalan and others said a couple of hours well spent cleaned with a toothbrush and copper slipped the back of the pads and pins :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:.
the pads didn't look to bad all flat no edges a good sign they look like the originals not much difference in depth after 19000. guess which numpty only bought 4 for the front :censored: another 4 ordered.
front seem fine after pumping the lever to work,
the rear don't seem to have much stopping power at the moment will they need to bed in ?? not spongy just don't seem much there.
I am back at work Monday so I can sort out a castle nut to clean the bobbins
Fancy only ordering 4 pads for the front :mfr_lol: I bet others have done it though.
The back will need a few stamps on the rear brake to bed in, then all will be fine.

car got wet while I did the back and half the front :censored:.
