So the driver got prosecuted and then deported, that'll teach him.  Our legal system is pretty  :censored:  pathetic.

The couple are clearly very lucky indeed to be alive, hopefully in the near future the insurance company will do the right thing and get those payments rolling. Undoubtedly that video footage is key evidence to assist their claim.

Not good, don't know them, I lived in Darlington for several years. Both would have been in site of each other for literally miles, if anyone had the sun in there eye it was motorcyclist. I'd guess car was short of petrol...

The feeling  always seems to be against the biker in such incidents, for example why is it necessary for the report to mention he was on a "powerful" bike, what's that got to do with anything ? .......answer nothing.

It just demonstrates that bikers are assumed to be guilty of driving errors before the facts are known.

The driver of that car should be made to pay up and then imprisoned ...simples.

The Google map that has been posted seems to demonstrate that this occured on a straight section of road, so what was the rider looking at

The quote, 'powerful bike' could also be to make readers aware that the rider was an experienced rider.

OC, perhaps I've misinterpreted the video but regardless of what the rider was looking at and I'm sure it was the road ahead unless there are witnesses or evidence to suggest otherwise, the turning car gave such a small margin for rider reaction/action that the result was likely to be inevitable regardless.

I wholeheartedly agree though that a custodial sentence would have been appropriate.

Agreed Steve, my comment was based on what Andy has said in his post, that both car and rider would have "been  in site of each other for literally miles", its not a section of road that I'm familiar with.

There are too many dick heads on the road who simply do not pay attention to what they are doing plus their awareness at times, appears to be virtually non existant...it makes my blood boil   :taz:
