Title: Evening all, newbie calling.
Post by: GTRpilot on May 24, 2014, 11:47:29 PM
Decided to go for a GTR after selling my Pan last year. Seen an 11 plate one in dark blue with 4500 miles on it for £9330. One owner who had a contract abroad so stored the bike for a year. Another contract abroad forced him to part with it. So now for sale from a local dealer. Needs new battery and rear tyre, but dealer says he will sort that, plus service it and warranty it. Has all paperwork with it. Comes with topbox, GPS mount and Quill exhaust, plus protective film on rear luggage.
Or,
Go for a 2013 in Dark blue, unregistered and brand new for £11,999 OTR.
What do you think, what if anything should I be checking for?
Thanks in advance  :help:

 :185: Birdpilot

I picked up a new 2011 model Tourer last May and am enjoying the benefits of a new bike ..................but the used one if as described like new the mileage is nothing for these bikes and you will have made a bigger saving............one other point to note after young Miss Debs and her knob handling  is the TPS who's batteries do go flat after time and you will find help on threads posted here.

Either deal looks good its really a personal thing now...............which ever way you go this bike is a lot of fun

Thanks for the advice. TPS? Assuming Tyre Pressure Sensor. On my Blackbird I just use the manual approach. Presume they are powered by batteries, and I presume they are not easy or cheap to replace

Bird man, If you are looking for a used one you could do a lot worse than have a look at my old one at  www.mcobikes.co.uk  I owned it from new did 18,000 miles on it. It had been cosseted, had the oil changed every 2.5 to 3 thousand miles, was in utterly mint condition and needed for nothing. It is now back in the dealers with less than 19,000 miles on. It is a green one, and they are asking £8500.

Thanks, was in there yesterday mooching around. Looks a nice machine. But for £500 more I have seen a dark blue 2011 bike, one owner and only done about 4500 miles, decisions, decisions. :help:
But thanks for the heads up.

TPS? Assuming Tyre Pressure Sensor   :smartass:   :mfr_lol:

You do realize that after a Pan you may need an oxygen supply to the helmet to ensure you survive 100ft/lbs. torque and 158bhp found above 6k rpm  :mfr_lol:

Just pluck up the courage and do it .............................the bike is a real hoot  :punk: :punk:

Looks like my presumption was correct then

:185: There's always a deal to be done on bikes, £500 for a bike with much lower mileage, it's a no brainier.

I have one, see my posting in the market part of this forum, one thing I forgot to mention in there was it's still under warranty as I paid for the extra two years.

Having looked at dealers they seem to want the earth, and there are some cheap ones, I would guess £8750 for mine.

Thanks, saw the advert. I'm looking at a one owner 2011 model in Dk blue. mileage is only 4126, comes with Quill Zorst, coded top box, and Garmin mount already fitted. on for £9299 at a dealer, says he would service, tax and warranty the bike, also put on new battery and rear tyre, but hopefully would haggle a little on price as well. Owner moved abroad so she's been in storage.
