Im having a bad experiance, had a bike stolen Oct 2013. Phoned my broker MCE and because my stearing lock was not on claim invalid " i was honest and told them" them saying its the minimal amount of security. My reply and argument being it was in a brick garage with an alarm system "more than minimal".
Still no you can go to ombudsman, ok after 8 wks im off to ombudsman. Sorry can`t help your underwriters are Danish !!!!
Alpha, " i wasn`t aware of this MCE didn`t mention it at sale and now say they don`t need to reveal it"
So off to Danish ombudsman and guess what, because im a UK citizen and bought from a UK broker they can`t help.
Whey yi bugger im doing doughnuts "going around in circles".
Everyone knows their broker but do you know your underwriter and where they live ?
Im learning the hard way, 1st get your stearing lock on or tell lies and check your underwriter preferably before you coff up at the start. Its not over yet the big girls not yet singing.
I'm sure I saw you put the steering lock on. :whistling:

Bollox, policy sold in UK, our laws apply. Get a lawyer and watch them cave in. If your policy specifically mentions the steering lock must be used then yer screwed. Otherwise they are trying it on.

Hello to all. Apologies for jumping in as a newbie but having read this post about MCE insurance I thought perhaps we may be able to save the hassle and broken promises that MCE offers. I was reluctantly persuaded at the Exel Bike show to buy insurance from MCE at a real low price, (£115 for 15 months) I am not one to make an instant decision but this time I did and regretted that decision ever since. Not to bore you with all the facts I cancelled my policy with them yesterday and went back with Carole Nash. Although everything looks really great to start with, believe me it's a load of bollox! Not a lot of use to you now Skill I know but if you need someone to go head hunting or riding shotgun I'm with you. :gunsmilie:

Always put your steering lock on...........if you left your car unlocked you would be faced with the same dilemma,,,,
But at the end of the day.....if its wanted, they will take it no matter what security you have.
skill......if you said you didn't put your steering lock on, i believe that was because you couldn't turn your wheel enough due to space ..........so " you just used your disc lock instead " a bit you forgot to tell them.......
Thats very kind. Thank you Charlie747.

My pleasure
Just remember this is one happy mad bunch :mfr_lol:
No doubt the rest will be alone soon to welcome you aboard
When i calmed down and looked at things yes on paper things look black n white "not just ink n paper" Ant, i also would say the same. But having gone through the ombudsmans web site all didn`t seem lost as they they say reasonable care, if you take your car out the garage and leave the engine running while you close the garage door and your only feet away, yet a baddy theif gets your car then you have a claim.
Also if you leave your keys in at the petrol station while paying for it !!!! Suprised me. So in a locked brick garage with an alarm. The just annoying thing is it can`t be judged by an independant body, that can`t be rite.
Anyway i may be stitched up but my point is check where you underwriters are living, don`t you get stitched too. Fortunately it wasn`t me kwaka, Id of been on crime watch by now if id lost 8Kz worth.
Gents reading this. It raises some concern I have a steel shed alarmed abus granite padlock etc.
But in the shed I have fixed a bumpstop to the floor.
Now if any of you are familiar with this it chocks the wheel and is thatchem rated but your wheels are straight hence no steering lock so how would this stand being as I said earlier thatchem rated!!! :sweatdrop:
You need to get written clarification from your insurance company on their stance on this, if you cant satisfy their requirements then nothing else seems to matter apparently.
