my rear PR3 has between 3 and 4 mm of tread left , how many miles does this equate to , I know it depends on riding style and weight but just a ballpark.
how much tread do these hoops have at new 8mm ??
Start about 7-8mm (rear)
I would reckon on 1k per mm, so a couple of thousand left
PR3 new in ITALY (REAR) 6.1mm (FRONT) 4.3 mm.

MGvalerio.
If it stays dry then 2-3K but then if it rains you'll know it needs changing !
thanks guys, I might put a new one on before I go on our 1800 mile trip and keep hold of this , should I ever pic up a puncture and be in need of a tyre for the remainder of the season!
thanks for the advice guys but ive decided to replace the tyre with a PR4, my tyre place quoted £145 for the PR3 and £155 for the PR4. As the pr4 is claiming 20% increase on mileage with no grip loss Im going to give it a go for an extra £10.
ive got 2k miles left on my current pr3 which I will put back on after the trip and keep hold of the pr4 .
and for the nay sayers who will comment on mixing tyres, yes it can be done, ive done it for 20 years and ive never come off or had " a moment"
