Title: SS Braided Lines
Post by: Lonewolf on April 26, 2014, 09:48:54 PM
Has anyone successfully fitted stainless steel braided lines to their GTR?
Both Goodridge and Hel do lines for the ZZR as well as the GTR1000, is the brake configuration on the ZZR the same as a GTR?
I just thought it might make a half decent mod.

I think the GTRs ABS will make it all different?

I put braided lines on my zzr1200 and can honestly say that ive never noticed a jot of difference to the braking performance, they are certainly a cosmetic mod but that's it in my opinion. Id never waste my money again unless my stock brake lines were damaged. Don't forget that braided lines are just rubber ones with some braided material on the outside so I cant see that making them stiffer, they would need to be solid copper like car ones to be stiff .

No use using braided hoses unless you are going to use the brakes at very high temperatures, ie racing etc, you will never generate enough heat to make any use of them and if you did you would need to replace the fluid and pads for a more appropriate types. As said do not waste your hard earned.

Fairy snuff, just that I used to have them on my other bikes, XJR1300 CB1300 etc and they looked quite good

Braided hoses are primarily designed to reduce brake fade under more extreme operating conditions, and aren't necessary for everyday motorcycling, they might "look better" but that's all, they will however reduce the thickness of your wallet Steve

:agree: . Waste of money for sure.
And besides, the GTR brakes are good enough as it is.

I'd say change em, cos You can ! I miss changing stuff out on my GSX1400, It was modded,,a lot was just pointless bling but it was my individual choice and somehow connects You with the bike adding your own personal touches,it's good to be different

Ha ha, noticed You've  had muscle bikes previous, I know they are easier to personalise but I'm already thinking what to do to the GtR,all with £30 budget of course

£30? that will be a tank of fuel, a bacon butty, a hot drink and that'll be your lot.
