Title: Flat battery
Post by: nightrider on April 21, 2014, 06:14:29 PM
Went for a ride to squires today , pulled up and got off the bike and I went and left the ignition on ,walked off came back an hour later and realised what I had done , there was no life in the screen and I managed to turn it off , it flickered a bit but had not anough life to turn over or even set the dials, was told to take the fuse for the main light out to stop it drawing the current ,which worked and the dials reset and came to life, bumped start with some help and. Away we went , the tool kit did not have an Allen key to take of the panel to get to the battery , so will fix that , aren't sure how long  the battery should have lasted as it was fully charged , still lesson learned ,,,,,,,,

If you turn the engine off with the kill switch the main beam stays on and the battery will not last 30min

Guess how I found out.

you at least need to do an overnight soak on the adjuster before it gets any worse

After 6 years looks like it's time to change battery.

I have original battery: FB Super MF FTZ14-BS ( 12V, 14Ah; dimensions 150 x 87 x 145 mm)
I am just not able to find any battery 14Ah which can fit in the slot.
All replacement batteries are 12 Ah and smaller dimensions  :undecided:

Please be so kind and tell me which battery (manufacturer and model are you using ).

Thank You in advance

Gordan

Just do a Google search for 1400gtr battery.
I found loads from £40 cheapies to £150+ for Lithium Ion.
Personally I'd get this one.

if you want a 14Ah then you need to buy the original from a dealer

The 12Ah will do just as well

Don't have them,  I tried.

Looks like it will be just a blind guess.

BTW my dealer sad that last year he sold a couple of Yuasa batteries to some guys and they did not last them a year.  :undecided:
Looks like Japanese manufacturers are not what they use to be
(or it was a just a bad series of batteries).  :undecided:

The exact one I bought from same supplier at the back end of last year  for £58

If you can afford it get a Li-ion battery.
Lighter, 21Ah and should last for much longer than any lead-acid type.

What a battery monster

For that money I can change new battery every 6 months for next 3 years.

It's not that I can't afford it, it's just that I think that so much money for battery is overkill.
Pb battery lasted me for 6 years and I think that's just more than enough. If next one lasts for 3, I am happy.

Anyhow, thanks guys for advice.

Some people on the zzr forum have used motoblatt batteries, apparently they are quite powerful.

a good quality lead battery is more than capable enough, saving weight is a bit pointless with a gtr, ive always had several years from all my bike batteries, just cant see the justification in a lithium battery

 :agree:

BTW yesterday I got LANDPORT YTX14AHL-BS.  In my place costs about 50€. It was recommended to me by Kawasaki repair guy, he sad that he installed them in police bikes couple years ago and that he did not herd from them since. I also got 1 year guaranty. Sounds promising. We will see.

( this was recommended on this site ) cock on in size all dimensions except for markings you would think it's the same .
