The left side of the radiator is wet and got a small puddle of water under the bike. GODDAMMITT!!
The small finns are clearly damaged in a small spot in the left wet area (4-6 mm in diam).
Do i have a Radiator guard? NOT YET, but i will order one as soon as I finished this posting
Is there any way that this will be covered under warranty? Or do I start to look for a replacement rad immediately?
warranty , No, if you can see damage then its not a defect, its an accident .
They're pretty cheap at £600!
Pop into Halfords and try some Rad fill repair stuff ... Pour it in and it seals any leaks .. Tight as a ducks arse. Better to try that before a big spend on a new rad.

When mine leaked on the old bike, I took it off and got it repaired. Cost £30
I'd try the warranty route though

Bolting the stable door after the horse as "DONE ONE" springs to mind, when ever I get a new bike  the first 3 things I buy... is a radiator guard, fenda extenda and a head light protector  think of theses 3 things as Condoms  it's better to have and not need them, than to need them and not have them

Just twist the knife counterclockwise as well. At least I got one (fender extender) right out of three. Hope that my connection at kawasaki Sweden can do something to ease the impact on my wallet.
Correction: 2 things right. Beowulf rad-guard ordered.
yes there are plenty places that will repair your radiator.
one very close to me called advance radiators in newcastle, they repaired my sons on his sv650 ,i think it was about sixty pounds .

wasn't meant as twisting the knife  :shit: happens to the best of us  just stating the obvious :whistling: stones get flung up of the road :hammer: and radiators and head lights are not cheap  the it's the grief of removing and re-fitting  rad guards cost £50 and 10 mins to fit, extenda costs £20.00 and 15 mins to fit, and head protector cost £20.00 and 60 seconds to fit... it's a  brainer really
P.S I wouldn't go for a quick fix for a permanent use  either pick up a good used one or have the original professional repaired.
it's ok, 2Kwacks. Your remark was so spot on that it hurt. I'm just so angry at myself for not doing the right thing at the right time.
- I'm gonna install a smoke detector,,, later.
- I'm gonna get insurance for the cats,,, later.
- I'm gonna fit a radiator guard,,, later
Don't postpone the blody obvious. Lesson learned the hard and expensive way.
I'm gonna remove the rad and take it to a professional and see if it can be fixed.
Soo until the Thunder nugget is fixed, my Z-REX will come to use after all.

well.. I was feeling sorry for you, until I heard you have a zrx1200  had the 2003 zrx1200s for 5 years then decided to let it go :hammer: just one of many bikes I've regretted selling over the years
P.s Seeing your on a mission :whistling: don't forget the carbon monoxide detector

For me, old Z-rexes are like a good beer belly. Never goes away, just start pile up as the years goes by. My wife have tried to put me on a low-ZRX diet, but so far without success.
I have just decided as a result of this post to get a radiator guard
Went on Ebay and have ordered one for £38 incl p and p.
For the price it is not worth not having one. Will let you know how it is when it arrives.
Got my R&G rad guard today. (beowulf have discontinued the guard with small diamondshaped holes, only have stainless steel bling-bling type with elongated slots, and that one's not for me).
funny thing is the radiator is okey....
My eyes arent that good anymore and after looking closer with reading glasses and a flashlight, I couldn't detect any hole in the horizontal core, just damages to the fins. The wet was just... water. couldn't detect anti-freeze after tasting.
Amazing that the rad can hold water for 3-4 days after cleaning.
Sorry for crying out "Wolf", but the good thing is that I got an awakening and got myself a nice radguard.
I had a similar incident about 3 years ago (think there's a post somewhere on here)
Found coolant had it pressure tested and was all OK - No holes or leaks.
Can't actually remember the full outcome, maybe a new cap fitted?
What I do remember doing was cleaning crud off the rad that had been flung into the centre from the wheel.
Did this with ordinary hose pipe (don't use excess high pressure hose or cleaner) and ensured thereafter that I rinsed rad (from back) every clean
Found it...
