I've managed to free the rear pre-load adjuster on my 12 plate gtr, what are the factory settings on one of these.
I'm not sure what the factory settings are but there are 26 clicks approximately, just tweak it till it feels right on a ride.
we have ours set at about 15 clicks in for 2 up riding , up to about 18 when we have some luggage on, if I were riding solo id have it at about 8 or 9 clicks in , im 14 stone
Manuals (http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=372.0) state 12 clicks for a 68kg (150lbs) rider

MY 2007/2009/ 34 clicks actual.
MGvalerio
so what does everyone recommend for an 18 stone rider on a 2010 model with lowering kit :tank:
I tend to have mine on about 18 clicks and I weigh 16st.

I just twiddle my knob till it feels good
In a moment of seized knob paranoia :sweatdrop: I grasped my knob in the fear that it may be seized before mounting up for a quick :scooter: ride out yesterday.......................... :hammer: pleased to report knob action was silky smooth without the need for lubrication
:listencarefully:
After all this talk of preload and possibly being in possession of a wee bit more body mass than most I put an extra 3 clicks on before my Sunday ride out......................strictly on a just in case bases
One thing I've found about this bike is that the rear is quite stiff. I've actually set it to very little to no pre-load at all. Works fine and the ride is better. Course that's just me...
every thing std for me ,except the rear preload ,all the way out then 24 clicks in ,its perfect for me and i am 15 stone .i dont use the panniers or a top box on and dont carry a passenger very often .
How many pounds in a stone? Not British currency, talking weight here... Oh, and that would be US pounds.

What did you do?
Think mine's seized... is there a special technique like push and turn? If not then I'm sure mine is seized. Not that I need to adjust it but nobody wants a seized knob do they?
I unbolted the rear footpeg, took the bracket off which is attached to the adjuster, suspended it upside down & applied WD40 in between the cylinder & the plastic knob,i turned it occasionaly,i let is soak in the WD40 for a couple of day's.it worked for me. there's no technique,it should turn without pulling out or pushing in.
there is currently a BNIB complete rear shock and preload on Ebay
