Well... new to me....
Rode the GTR up to Squires Cafe near leeds, did a deal and rode back on this

Nicely balanced, certainly 30% down on the power of the GTR , but I've had 3 in the past, and got as far as Slovakia on them... so its like a return to a comfy old pair of slippers for me.....
Average fuel on the 100 miles back was 6mpg down on the GTR
The GS has full luggage with it... so I'm all set up again
The new GTR owner is very happy with his new bike... Pointed him to the forum so he may well be along sometime soon :scooter:
Just got rid of my 90th anniversary GSA after 4000miles due to corrosion issues and bought a new GTR lol advise from BMW always wash and dry after use and apply treatments as required to maintain show room condition. Enjoy I know I did while I had mine.

Looks good, I like it. I keep getting tempted to go down that route.
Funny how quick this happened... went out for a ride around the Peak District on Saturday, had no intention of changing the GTR when I left, got back, and decided .... 4 days later the new bike is in the garage :whistling:
Some times, that's the best way to do it. :mfr_lol:
Bryn ... The same happened to me as you know ... Although my journey from Gtr to Gs was as far as it took me to ride from CX to T Square ! I am sure you will love it !

Think it's the right decision for me

+1 :mfr_lol:
"Adventure" bikes and choppers.............. :tank:
Specsavers would not improve anything, not even the Hubble :mfr_lol:
 Oh how I laughed
I have a test ride booked on a GSA and the new RT in a couple of weeks, so who knows? could be another heading down the same route.
Do some searching on gearboxes, clutch and switchgear before you drop the deposit
So many on here seem to have motorcycle fidgetitis.
If you have money burning a hole in yer pocket I have a mortgage I'd like to get paid off.
I bought Otto in 2002 and Vivian in 2007 and still have both.
Even if I had unlimited funds I'd still keep all my bikes, although I'd have a lot more of them.
The last bike I sold was Ethel back in 2007 and i'd only bought her as a stopgap whilst getting Otto fixed up (owned Ethel for 18 months).
Prior to that I sold Betsy (Suzuki GS550E) for £300 when I bought Sanji in 1993.
Some of you on here seem to change bikes more often than yer underwear.
And yes, ZG, I'm including you in the fidgetitites as you seem to be congenitally incapable of deciding on one colour or scheme. :mfr_lol:
Think I need to call my new purchase Adolf

Poland - One tank?
Hope you enjoy it, nice colour, there is something strangely appealing about them, beautifully ugly!
It's great all this banter
Thanks for the comments guys... just spent an hour in the garage adding some Touratech bling to the old girl
I was at Pidcock BMW dealer in nottingham on saturday, when a guy pulled in with a GTR 61 plate in blue, he had come to pick up a 13 plate GS in the BWM race colours, anyone on here by any chance??. i was hoping to talk to the guy but he was busy with paperwork etc so did not get the chance to speak to him.
Now then i hear you say, what was Zed doing at a BMW Dealership ????

One of the best parts of having a new bike is getting all the farkles on
Up to now.... Touratech foot pegs, Touratech rear brake pedal extender, Stainless oil cooler grille. Expecting by post : Touratech Potentiometer protector ( its a GS thing )
Machine Art mudsling ( stops the crap from the back wheel going up your legs)
I reckon you could easily spend 10k on bits from the Touratech catalogue ( if you're minted or just stupid )
It is fun bolting stuff on though
Copston Magna this afternoon

:agree: The Barbie looks very neat
I also think they are very nice, a sort of rugged beauty, still not sure if I can get past the Ewan and Charlie wannabe image though!
Looks wrong without the panniers, please clothe Adolf appropriately.
Not ready to change the GTR yet and can't justify another bike(yet)
Coman
I think Ewan and Charlie wannabes is spot on... :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

A number of years ago at the height of the erwan/charley craze [ 2005 I think] Me and two others did the National Rally. We all had 'adventure' bikes, Vstrom,Varadero and I think a Tiger. All we carried was a tank bag each and some waterproofs strapped to our carriers. I lost count of the number of GS's with full metal luggage, all for one overnight ride!

Perhaps we need a 'GS' section on here .... :cheesy:

I would buy a GS if I was to head over to see my friend in Magadan.. I do think they are nice looking bikes..

I would take a KTM, like Charlie & Ewan were planning on using before KTM upset them by not supplying free bikes.
The GS is far too big and heavy to be heaving around out there.
The KTM I'd take would be the 690 Enduro R.
