Title: Rider has an off on the Cat and Fiddle
Post by: doebag on April 02, 2014, 01:49:10 PM
Found this through another forum, the rider has to be one of the luckiest/dumbest this day/week/month/year.

Don't the double white lines forewarn of a hazard ?

Does crossing the double white line commit an offence ?

Dum  :asshole:

Firstly I'd like to thank Jack Sanderson for providing to the authorities some excellent primary evidence to assist in his prosecution. There's enough there to get the ball rolling for a dangerous driving charge and therefore a mandatory disqualification. On the other hand if the purpose of him making this footage available for all to see is to open the eyes of others as to the ease at which you can lose your life in a moment of madness and stupidity then I applaud him.

Lets not forget of course the impact this will have had on the car driver, its fair to say that the innocent car driver will relive this for the foreseeable future over and over in their mind and they were also very fortunate to come away from the incident unscathed.

Mr Sanderson is one very fortunate individual and obviously he knows this. His comments, Here's Where I Started To Get Impatient", don't exactly help his case. Whatever the outcome may be for him, I hope he appreciates just how close he came to death and doesn't repeat it.

As for Alan Lloyd's comments, saying that Mr Sanderson isn't used to the road & not used to the corners & they don't know how fast they can go around them is absolute nonsense. IPSGA, works everytime!

If you want to do shit like that, get on a race track.

When I first watched the video in my OP, I actually jumped in my chair when the car came into view !

Having seen the full footage, I am not sure my first reaction would be to remove the go-pro from the bike and film myself walking back to the road, unless I thought it might be good evidence against me.

The only reason you would pick up the Go Pro is to get rid of the evidence, not upload it to YouTube for it go viral. Can't see him not go infront of the court

He'll kill someone if not himself by riding with such disregard to the road markings

You have to ask what his motives are for posting the film

The question one has to ask is " would 12 average people in a jury think that is dangerous ? "
It will never get to Crown Court for Dangerous Driving for the very simple following reasons ...
1. Dangerous Driving can only be dealt with at Crown Court because of its severity in the Road Traffic Act ...
2. Taking someone to said Court, with Barristers and court time is VERY expensive for the CPS ( and you and me because we pay for it )
3. Is it in the public interest to prosecute him when there are no injuries and no other aggravating circumstances ie .. No insurance.
4 Could he be dealt with by any other means ? Yes .. At Magistrates Court for careless driving ... A much lesser offence which the CPS would be much more sure of getting a conviction for.

So, for what it's worth I don't think it will go very far. I MAY get it wrong of course but I think it's just a shit bit of riding with a huge dollop of good luck chucked in.

How many synonyms for dickhead can I find? Grrrrrr.

Idiots like this are why the powers that be will impose ever more draconian measures. Sadly idiots like this either wipe themselves out or move on to the next activity they can **** up for others.

Apexing like that on a public road is only going to end in tears. On a left bend when it goes wrong the only place you'll end up is head on with the oncoming. You can't deny physics.

If I hear one more "I didn't know he road" I think I'll actually scream.

Poor positioning, too high a gear, looks like a constant radius bend etc. Etc.

I saw that on the BBC website when it came out.  It made my blood boil then too. Totally mindless and selfish riding.  Arrests should be made.

Serious lack of judgment and skill, thrown in with a total lack of respect for the law, a luck boy indeed.

We were all young and stupid once, and that leads me into another thought, The GTR can get you into a lot of trouble speed wise, without any effort at all - lol

I have to fit a louder can - lol

I believe there are 3 things that can all help you stay safe ( excluding rider training )....Lights, noise, bright clothing....

My saying is.  " loud pipes saves lives ".....yes that statement can open a big debate, but theres no denying that they keep you awake, and alert other road users ( if their music isn't too loud  :mfr_lol: ).......

I will post a vid shortly from another forum highlighting a problem that not everyone will be aware of.

It makes you think....... :biker3:

This is discussed in the following video.
it's worth watching this video all the way through if you're interested in discussing the finer points of the Motorcylcle Roadcraft vs (can't remember his name) methods of getting round a corner.
it's nearly an hour long, but the related part starts at about 38:00

Glad I wasn't the only one to find bend on map :-) a good lesson in motorcycling is to find a couple of quiet bends and walk through them and note to extra visibility to be gained by positioning a few feet differently  (and be seem earlier...) and observe the movement of the "vanishing point" (good film by the way...).

Riding with the police (Bike Safe) in Norfolk changed my riding for the better. And extra training is always added value.
