Title: Jumped ship from Scotland to Australia
Post by: alankawasaki on April 20, 2011, 09:41:17 AM
We sold our FJR1300 in Autumn 2007 and emigrated to Tasmania, Australia, in Feb 2008. Finally got the cash to buy a new bike and chose the 2010 Kawasaki 1400GTR. Unfortunately for various reasons have only clocked up just under 1800Km in that time. Looking forward to get out on it more this year, even though we are well into Autumn, remember, we are in the Southern Hemisphere.

Hi there and welcome along. I think you are our second Australian member now unless there are some others hiding out in the wings.

Nice move getting over to Oz, wish I had the balls to do something like that. My Sister emigrated out to Brisband back in 1990/1 just after I got wed....never was sure if it was something I said.  ;D She struggled to adjust at first but loves it and the life style is more forgiving than what she would have experienced here. Its a huge adjustment in a persons life starting afresh in a new Country but I have great admiration for those who have taken the plunge.

Look forward to seeing and reading some of your experiences & travels over the next few months and beyond.
Enjoy!!

Hi

Welcome

I've got relatives in Perth, Adelaide, Victor Harbor & my daughter & her man are in Brisbane (they're both bike nuts (BKing & Z750), been over a couple of times & enjoyed the biking over there.

Cheers

Welcome Alan,

Why do Scots always emigrate to either Tasmania or NZ South Island?
You'd think that you'd want to go somewhere warmer, dryer and less windy.  ;D
Mind you, then you'd end up on Costa del Twat so perhaps you did make the better choice.  ;)

Enjoy the GTR and have a looksee at the Aussie GTR forum http://www.gtr-aus.com/ (http://www.gtr-aus.com/)

Thanks all. Compared with Scotland, Tasmania is very much warmer, but not too warm although there will be some days in the 30's, and as for rain....it's measured in mms here rather than inches!!
Yes, it is pretty windy but without the rain it's not too bad.
