Title: helmet sizes
Post by: 2kwacks on March 20, 2014, 07:25:42 PM
thinking of buying a Schuberth C3 flip helmet, but the sizes on the Schuberth don't state which is medium. the sizes are different to the aria helmets I'm use to, the medium in the aria is 57/58cms and states medium, so as anyone used or as a aria helmet that is a medium and also as a Schuberth c3 so they can tell me what size in cms is the medium in the Schuberth... would you say the medium Schuberth was a slighter tighter or looser fit to the Aria medium.

weve got c3's , the wifes is a medium at 56/57 and mine is a large at 57/58. But id measure your head at its widest point with a paper tape measure and get the right size regardless of the medium / large issue.
you may think the helmet is a snug fit but it should feel like that and slightly pinch your cheeks

If you can go in and try them on ... I had the same " problem " when I ordered my BM Comms stuff ... Nice helmets though but heavier than the Arai.

For the Schuberth helmets you MUST try one on. Their sizings are strange and bear no relation to any other manufacturers. My head fell between two sizes. They do 'bed in'.

Of course you should try on any helmet, but I was making the point of how different (awkward?) they are.

Dave, most shops are understandably funny about taking back helmets so yes, find a local supplier and try one on. My C3 is a medium, 56-57, I tried one of the BMW System 6 Evo lids a while back, their medium was the same size so therefore it also fit me. However different heads, different shapes and all that, you need to be sure.

If you are going to get a C3 are you going for the PRO?

Steve.. decided against the C3  instead...  just mugged myself one of theses http://uk.video.search.yahoo.com/video/play?p=Shoei+Neotec+Borealis+TC-3+Flip-Up&vid=dc335fca967c34a9d79f4cb085fd6f3b&l=1%3A10&turl=http%3A%2F%2Fts1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DVN.608022040390272028%26pid%3D15.1&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Da6lcAfeYg7w&tit=Shoei+Neotec+Borealis+TC-3+Helmet+Video+Review+from+SportbikeTrackGear.com&c=0&sigr=11ams7r44&sigt=12ag32ch5&ct=p&age=0&hsimp=yhs-fullyhosted_003&hspart=ironsource&tt=b :celebrate: decided to go for the Borealis.. "been seen be safe" colour which I think looks  I had the shoei x-spirit a few years back and that was a medium 57/58cms but with the neotec being a flip front I wanted to make sure the medium was the right size for me  so paid a visit to my local "stealers" but they did not have a medium in stock  but did have a small and a large in stock  so tried the small on and it was a bit tight then tried the large on and it was a bit loose so it doesn't take a genius to work out the medium is the way to go  so ordered a medium from "Race leathers" because my local bike dealer should provide their sales staff with a mask and stripe vest

Dave, that looks good, how does that rate against the C3? Is it of  a similar quality/price?

Steve.. the shoei Neotec and the Shubert c3 flip fronts are similar in price with graphics at around £499.99  if you shop around you can get discounts  I decided to go for the shoei because it seemed a better fit and better designed, also all the reviews on the shoei where excellent, I also took advice from bikers who have used or owned both helmets  the neotec is a bit on the pricey side, but you only get what you pay for  and if there is one thing you should never skimp on and that is "ones" bonce :mfr_lol: if your thinking of a new helmet for your new WATER COOLED GS :whistling: then this review will explain the neotec in more detail

I bought my Neotech last year for £420,,,, Picked one up from Motorcycle live for the Mrs for £370.....

Its all in the fit and how you feel wearing it.

The Caberg Justisimo Gt was fine, noisy-ish, but did the job until it lost ' the fit factor '..... the padding seemed to 'give' quite quickly...and make the helmet feel loose.....

No complaints with the Neotecs......

my neotec arrived today  but have they change the law on the gold B/S sticker or other cert stickers or B/S markings on the back of helmets? my aria had the gold B/S sticker. my new neotec dose not have any cert sticker, it is a new helmet  so have they change the law on fitting theses stickers?

You can put what you like on fibreglass & carbon fibre lids, but on polycarbonate lids it is VERBOTEN! The glue on the sticker can soften the polycarb.

I prefer not to put any stickers on my helmets  I just wanted to know if the rules as been change regarding the gold B/S sticker or any other approved sticker on helmets for legal use. I know that most track days insist on the gold sticker, I don't intend on doing any track days anymore  but just was surprised that my new shoei neotec did not have the gold sticker. so just thought I would ask if there not used anymore. did some research on the B/S gold stickers and found this... it appears that they don't bother with the B/S sticker anymore because it was recently found that the ACU has been selling ACU Gold stickers to distributors of many different types of motorcycle helmets whether or not they met BSI Type A.  It was claimed that since the ACU received a royalty for the use of the sticker that they were devaluing the worth of the ACU Gold sticker by selling them to many undeserving motorcycle helmet manufacturers.

here is the link I found concerning the gold sticker!

Dave, did you get it half price like you usually do?  Or at least that's what you tell the missus that everything costs half of what it actually costs.

Steve.. the less the wife knows the better  told the wife it was my original helmet which I got professionally painted which only cost £50.00  I would normally tell her it was asda price, but she knows I've recently replaced the rear tyre on my ZZR which was a used tyre I got from work and paid £25.00 to have it re-threaded  which is a big saving on new price :mfr_lol:

I don't call it being dishonest   just bending the truth :whistling:

p.s well.... well bollocks deserves bollocks  :mfr_lol: Andy.. being a good kind guy as kindly offered me the chance to bed down in his room  so if I can make it for the Saturday night on the GTR meet. we can talk some more  "BOLLOCKS" :mfr_lol:

Viper its a long standing joke that EVERYTHING he buys for his bike, (probably even his bikes) he tells his Missus that it cost half of what it actually did cost or he makes some nonsense up to keep her on side. He probably told her he found the new ZZR with its keys and the log book with a note attached saying whoever finds this bike can keep it.

Lets not forget he's from Liverpool, they're a cunning, devious lot out that way.  :mfr_lol:
