Title: Hi there, bike on its way..
Post by: onya_bike on March 19, 2014, 05:49:25 AM
Hi all,

I am waiting for the dealer, Hunts to service a 2009 Blue GTR I have just bought from them.(12.900mls) .

Hopefully I will go up to Manchester to collect it by Sunday or Monday and my first ride will be down the M5 to Cheltenham. Bit of trepidation at the size, but everyone says once its rolling all is cool, so should be a great first ride. Have a VFR 800 and 650 Versys, so quite a jump up.

Anyway hi to everyone and happy trails.

Hi, Hunts are my local Honda dealer, ive only ever bought a used bike for them but they have a good reputation for service. Just give the bike a very good check over before you purchase as its a long way for you to deal with problems. Take the seat off  and check for the dreaded tank rust

good luck with your new bike and keep us posted

Welcome along, mine's a 2009 with around the same mileage... and having had over 80 bikes in my time, this one's lasted 18 months... so it must be good

Cheltenham's got some lovely routes nearby to enjoy your new bike

Sounds nice

Check the TPS (Tyre Pressure sensors)  as soon as you leave the dealer as these tend to go at about the age of your bike and are costly to replace.

Just scroll through the top button on the dash when you are rolling to find it

Welcome onya, Cheltenham is a lovely place and not far from our 2014 meet so hopefully see you. What's the last 3 of your reg? Only asking as my last GTR was a blue 09 and loitering in the Manc area. It was a sound machine with new TPSs!

I've only owned 3 my13 yr biking life and all were bought from John Brown at Hunts  (2 new hondas and ny GTR that was only 15 month old with 1000 mile on it).

A good dealer.

After a long wait, too long..the bike arrived unexpectedly today. Looks great. I had to wait until evening before I could get out, dark damp and chilly for the first ride.

Well, its taller than I expected and seems to ride really firmly. Much more wind buffeting to the head than I expected , with the screen fully up...first farkle coming, new screen.

It already has bar risers and I love the colour, dark blue with metallic bits, although its obviously not as fast as a black one. Oxford heated grips came in handy on a chlliy ride, but I would like wind protection for the hands too. Great headlights.

It will take a few rides to get my confidence up so looking forward to the weekend and a bit of warmer weather. On the whole, delighted and impressed.

Happy Trails

Glad you have got your bike now. The screens on the newer models are slightly taller and a laminar lip may help. My opinion is if you start whacking on huge screens it loses some of it's "sports" image which to some is part of the initial attraction. Enjoy the weekend weather! Ps my previous one was OTS so not yours.

Cheers RR, thats a shame , the history would have been nice. It's a well cared for bike, R&R crash bungs, like wot I've got on my Versys (lives in Thailand)
Dunlop Sportsmax tyres, ...going to be swapped for P4's. The screen is a thing I will live with until I get some miles on it, I hope to see peeps at the meet in June and get some tips there. Never had panniers before so thats quite different, but I do really like how imposing it is on the road, so other drivers can actually see it, well we live in hope. The start of a long relationship hopefully, me and the bike that is....

Happy Trails
