Title: TPS is useful
Post by: Kwikasfuki on March 10, 2014, 04:05:38 PM
Riding the bike this morning on the motorway and the red light comes on the dash. Glance at the display and the TPS warning is on. The rear tyre is at 27psi.

Fortunately I was only a few miles from a service station so pulled in to have a look athe tyre. Two nails! Fortunately I had a repair kit so proceeded to repair. Got the right angle valve out to get the tyre up to pressure only to find out the air hose was bust. That cost 50p.

Luckily I had my Slime portable air pump with me (as you do) so managed to pump the tyre.

TPS has saved me twice with warning of rear tyre punctures.

2 nails in one go ! NEVER seen that before .. unlucky Asif, but of course it's just an excuse to get those PR4's on isn't it ? Although I have to say BA made a very valid point !!  :mfr_lol:

The thing is if he hadn't have washed the bike it would have a natural barrier to deflect road debris from the tyres and he wouldn't have got the puncture/s. So basically its all our fault for putting pressure on him to maintain the bike.

Obviously it is .. all our fault ! Shall we club together and buy him a set of PR4's ??

Is anyone running without TPS`s in, just ordinary tyre valves.
Do you still get flashing low battery on the dash if you replace the TPS with ordinary valves or does that stop?

I have had mine took off and normal valves put in , and it is just blank where the tyre pressure would normally be , no flashing , I think they are more trouble than they are worth ,  :biker3:

:agree: I think we've all had bikes for years and survived without them. Plus, I've just opted to have my tyres changed by my local kwack dealer as opposed to a cheaper tyre fitter purely because of the TPSs.

Having had more puncture s  on PR3's than any other tyres I have ridden on in the last 30 years it is definitely a good idea to have tyre pressure sensors. On other tyres probably not necessary!
