Title: Stock seat
Post by: BigAlan on February 26, 2014, 09:38:44 PM
If anybody has a stock seat they want to sell I'd be interested as I want to play with some ideas I have.

Thanks
Alan

Alan, I've just yesterday replaced my seat with a "Top Sellerie" touring version. The Kawasaki seat is from a 2011 model (2012 registration) ZG1400CBF. Condition is as new, it has just 6,000 miles of use behind it and the bike is garaged when not in use.

For information, the rubber "feet" and foam at the rear of the seat have to be transferred to the Top Sellerie, so they are no longer fitted to the original.

If you are interested, let me know.

Out of interest, what do good condition original saddles go for (£) roughly?

Unsure, but mine is there for £75.00 (plus postage) if wanted by a forum member. Otherwise I'll probably put it on E-Bay for £100.00 in the spring.

I've seen them on ebay for as little as £50 right the way through to £200 approx.

I have a Top Sellerie on my bike and it is ok, what i want is an old seat in bad condition, not bothered if its ripped or not so i can play around making it a bit higher at the front, a bit higher in general and put a Gel pad in the front, basically i want to butcher an old seat to see how i get on.

I may end up chucking it all away but thats only when i have further wrecked it.

Alan, understood. I don't think that my seat is for you and, to be honest, I wouldn't like to think of it being used in that way as it is, to all intents and purposes brand new.

Anyway, I hope that you find one that suits your needs and look forward to meeting you at the gathering in June!

Yes they are, you just need to change the metal catch over as I understand it.

I like it, have ridden around 100 miles in total now since fitting. It is firmer than the stock seat, a little flatter in shape and of course there is the very pronounced "step" between the rider's seat and the pillion, although I still have lots of room to move around at 6'1".

I did, however sit on Ant's bike a couple of weeks ago and his Top Sellerie seat seemd to be lower than standard, leaving me with a tighter bend at the knee than was comfortable. The one fitted to my bike however (bought from Wolf) is just right for me.

If you are inclined to come to Norfolk at any time, you are welcome to have a sit on mine and see how it suits you before buying!

 :agree:

But I have done some 3000 miles and it's as above, I do fancy mucking around with an old seat and playing with gell inserts, raising the front a little etc.

Same as above but if your around Oxford you can try mine.

You are correct, although the "same" GTR seats seem to be a little better padded.
