Title: EXPANDING RIVETS
Post by: Deon on February 25, 2014, 07:38:10 AM
Have searched the forum but did not find the answer. I know to remove the expanding rivet, you push the pin in and then remove.
How does one replace them again ?

Pull the centre pin almost fully out, insert the 'stud' into the aperture and replace the centre pin by pushing it all the way in

Simples

Thanks OC,
Did try that but did not work. Will get stuck in a bit later again.

Make sure both panels, or panel and mounting, are touching eachother. Otherwise the clip will not be in fully enough to expand.

Hi Guys,
having 'broken' a couple of these a number of times - any one recommend a source for replacements as my local joke of a bike shop charges £1.50 each for them.
:nono:

I realise possibly fleabay but what do I search for
:ohplease:

Do an ebay search for 'fairing clips' or fairing rivets'

Note they come in different diameters and lengths. Take one of your good ones out and measure before ordering.

ebay search (http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=panel+clips&_osacat=9884&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR4.TRC0.A0.H0.Xfairing+clips&_nkw=fairing+clips&_sacat=9884)

I find when you are re-inserting them it can help to just pinch with your fingers the end so they don't splay out.
