Hi
Was washing the bike today and came across this on the rear hub and the strut that makes up part of the swing arm.
Just wondering if any one else has seen this on there bike.
I have sent an E mail to Mr K to see what he thinks.
The bike is less then 2 yrs old and done less than 8K miles and been looked after so I would not expect to see this on a 13K bike.
That's a shame to see. I would think judging by other claims on here that Mr K will deal with that under warranty. There are 2 options that may help you ... When clean and dry give those parts a good rub down with a soft cloth and some ACF 50 .. Or ... do what Asif does and never clean your bike ... Then you will never know there is any problem !
If your bike is less than 2 years old then clearly its still in warranty, the question is, is that covered under the warranty? I would like to think that it is as surely it cannot be acceptable for the paint to be blistering and peeling on what is potentially a newish bike.
Keep in contact with Kawasaki, it shouldn't take them more than a day to decide whether they are going to honour that or not.
Speak to you local/supplying dealer and initiate a warranty repair, if the bike is under warranty you should have no problem
Oh BTW don't leave that water settled on the adjustment knob for your rear suspension, its a good idea to ensure you bike is thoroughly dried before you tuck it up in bed for the night
Well been to the dealer he looked at the bike for all of 30 seconds and took some pictures and sent them off to Mr K and his reply was not positive.
Customer services have stated that the warranty is there to cover manufacturing defects not what they call wear and tear from road grit and even stated that the paint coming off the arm may have been caused buy the person that fitted the rear hugger. When I pointed out it was fitted buy a Kawasaki dealer when I bought the bike they come back with that nothing to do with Kawasaki UK I would have to talk to the dealer and would not accept that if that was the case it would have flacked off a long time ago not over the last few week.
So I looked at the arms again and found the other side is also starting to flake and in areas that are no where near any tool that would be used to fit the hugger. So I did a bit digging and found the CEO E mail address and sent him an E mail and got a reply back with in 3 hours from him personally.
Will be hearing from him on Wednesday to see if there are going to do any thing with the issues.
I have to renew the warranty on the 2 April and I just not sure it going to be worth spending £395 for them then to hit me with this all this time.
Has any one else seen this problems on there GTR.
Regrettably some Kawasaki dealers are simply not interested and not particularly too helpful. I've had warranty claims done at two local different Kwak dealers, both were very positive about the 'faults' and both ensured that the issues were resolved without any cost to me.
I had blistering paint on the silver end cap of the exhaust very recently and this was exchanged without question. Prior to that I had a whole new exhaust system fitted simply because there was some black paint the size of your small finger nail peeling. The entire exhaust system cost £600 +, changed no problem whatsoever.
Persevere & hopefully the chap you have emailed will sort matters for you. As for the warranty, it is worth paying it, for peace of mind alone if nothing else.
I had flaking paint on the exhaust too, and my rear adjuster had seized, all changed with no problems from my local dealer. I now have my Front TPS flashing, so its off to the dealer saturday.
