Post by: Buck99 on February 18, 2014, 03:35:20 PM
Hay guys and girls.
I was wondering, what's the best satnav/mount combination to use on a gtr and whether u plug them in to the socket or wire then in ?
Many thanks in advance

I have the Garmin on a mount hard wired, and the Tom Tom on a ball mount plugged into the Aux. when travelling abroad.

I have two, as i like to shut shout at them and give them verbal abuse without retaliation when they send me the wrong way.. :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

zumo , hard wired into pretty much anything as only uses 2 amps. you can use the specific gtr satnav mount but many find this position too low, to get higher use a ram stem mount that goes into the centre yolk and then a ball mount on top of that with a plate for your chosen satnav mounting plate.

dont like using the cig socket as a perm solution because of water ingress.

Garmin Zumo 660 on a RAM ball attached to the risers, sitting in the middle of the bars below the clocks. It's wired into my Fuzeblock. Here's a picture of the RAM ball on the risers before I wired it all in. You can see that these risers also have a 12v socket but this isn't wired in...

I have 2 Ram balls on either side of my bars as well, attached to the brake & clutch levers (one for the SPOT and the other is for whatever other gizmo I might want). Some people prefer there GPS high up here, but not me.

RAM is about the best way to attach anything to your bike. I've seen RAM balls on the centre steering nut, on the plastic screws of the tank cover, all sorts.
