Hay guys I was just wondering if there was any meets planned for this year ?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk (http://tapatalk.com/m?id=1)
Count me in again, I enjoyed meeting the team in 2012, so much so we have met up twice in Yorkshire for tours around led by Mr 100milesaway and OC.
Alan
Count me in.
count me in
It's just a few miles from where we lived for some years and my Mother now lives. I/we will attend if not away on holiday.
Right folks, here we go.
This is the venue.....
http://www.thebelfryhotel.co.uk/ (http://www.thebelfryhotel.co.uk/)
These are the dates......
Friday 13th June 2014 to Sunday 15th June 2014.
Two nights accommodation, (Fri & Sat) leaving on the Sunday. The venue has 20 rooms but they won't be available forever. We were fortunate to get this weekend, as an alternative weekend which was considered was fully booked with a wedding party.
As and when people book could they either send me a PM or post on the thread that they are coming and include whether they are coming alone or as a couple? This is just to give us an idea so that Asif will know how much money he needs for the first round. :whistling:
Looking forward to seeing everyone, now get booking! I've booked, so 19 rooms left.
:biker3:
Make that 18 rooms left.......................I'm in and booked
Make that 1 room less !! Double room booked, so far wife is included but this may change depending on her work schedule...but I am confirmed.
I hope Colin and Viv are coming, so I may have a slight chance to tour around since Steve and Asif will squat in the pub all day long !! :biker3:
17 Rooms Left.
I am in too. Booked a twin room, if the lovely Mrs Doebag does not come I am willing to share.
Prospective candidates please send your vital statistics and full length picture in a private message :whistling:
16 Rooms Left.
I shall be visiting on the Saturday as i am only 50 miles up the road, i shall set of early just in case there is a ride out with the pack.
Alan
I/we will be there, will stay at my Mother's (7 miles away) so won't need accomodation.
I'm booked in to. at this rate we will need a bigger hotel :mfr_lol:
Two rooms booked so 14 Rooms Left.
Booked a single for me (2 nights).
13 Rooms Left.
Single for me too. Both nights.
Now need to make sure I can get the Friday off work or I'll have to ride there after work which would suck! (http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/forums/Smileys/default/laugh.gif) **************************************************************************************************************************
Friday the 13th June   :mfr_lol: holiday is approved.
What time are people planning on getting there?
Late afternoon/early evening?
If anyone from the East fancies a riding buddy, let me know.
I'll go as far north as Cambridge/Bedford/Milton Keynes if you want to meet up,... maybe further if it's worth it. <LOL>
Otherwise my planned route there will be Bishops Stortford, A507 (Buntingford to MK), A421 then back roads to Chipping Norton, Stow on the Wold, Cheltenham, Gloucester and Littledean.
12 Rooms Left
Booked fri and sat night
11 Rooms Left.
Double room booked for both nights
I rang them up and said 'I understand we're using your hotel for a meet up , and I'd like to book a room'
Reply: 'That'll be the 13th and 14th June... would you like both nights  He must be getting a few calls
10 Rooms Left
I'm just accross river in Brizzle, maybe a short rideout Friday evening after you've dumped your panniers ? http://goo.gl/maps/ZGtqU (http://goo.gl/maps/ZGtqU)
Ok I'm booked in for the Friday night only ... my shifts are Days into Nights so I can take a few hours off on the Friday to arrive for T and Tiffin .... at 6 ish ... ( I hope ) and then leave after lunch on the Saturday and get back to Londinium ! Hoooorah !
Oh ... and I have booked the weather .. not too hot, nice enough to sit outside all evening and chat ... hope that is agreeable for everyone ! :mfr_lol:
9 Rooms Left.
So is anyone taking their partners before I book ?.....Or is it just going to be a lads W/E. Just thinking someone else may be thinking the same thing as the ladies may want to do something else other than go out on the bike, or what ever happens .... :surrender:
Partners are very welcome, Frenchbiker is hoping to bring his wife, Pembsgtr has previously brought his partner, Rossendale Rider has brought his wife in the past. Go on, fetch her with you. If the wives don't want to sit in the bar drinking.....dare I say it, they'll be some bikes outside that can be washed.
The vikings are coming! (at least one) 8 rooms left.

However, saying that, I can't the link to work either. Can anyone put the postcode up please...
Hopefully, I might be able to at least show up for a day.... :-) it would be nice to get out for a real proper ride on the GTR... :-)

But you will need positive vetting, and need to look good in a dress!
Seriously, if you want to share I have had no takers yet
OK, my spare bed is now taken by dokterdave.

Hi
I will have to check with SWMBO, the 18th is her birthday, and there is a party organised for the 15th so its not looking good  , but I think the party is an evening / night thing so maybe
Turns out the party is the week after so that's OK, but SWMBO is working the Friday and Saturday so we can not make it
but its not too far from me so I may come up for the day, assuming its sunny, or at least dry  , maybe arrive for breakfast or lunch, dependant on the itinerary, will keep watching for updates.
the venue looks good I am very interested just waiting for the dates hopefully I can fit them in at work.
especially being a new GTR owner. :punk:
Pross
If anyone is passing Brighton on your way to the GTR1400 meet in June and would like to ride up together, let me know.
I'm aiming to reach The Belfry Friday afternoon taking a scenic route, made up as I go.
hi
thanks for that the wolf.

it will nice to put faces to posts.

Room booked fri and sat night. Looking forward to seeing you all.
Andy
Excellent news Andy, pleased you could make it, is your good lady coming too?
She's not this time. It's a bit of a drama putting the cats and dog into kennels.
The planning is half of the tripp.
So in my Zumo 350, I have put in the waypoint to Littledean jail, where I probably will end up.... :police:
Amended first post in this thread with the details.
Have we sold the hotel out ?
If i can get my truck to do more than 56mph and get me home early friday i will be there. :whistling:
If not, i will be there sat morning.... :cheesy:
I am guessing i can throw my tent somewhere local.....
Kall, I don't know about campsites but there's probably still some rooms left at the hotel I'm sure.
Anyone planning on riding down on the Friday? I'm thinking of maybe leaving work early at 14:00 and ride down straight from Manchester.

Whisky, cider, beer, moonshine- just bring it on. I'm game with anything involving alcohol. (including shoe polish)
From what I remember of Sweden that is no surprise. :mfr_lol:
Can you still get moonshine flavourings in the supermarkets?
Where we lived in Frillesås (between Kungsbacka & Varberg) there were at least 4 stills in the forests around the village.
You could smell them from miles around when they were cooking.

moonshine flavouring in supermarket: check. I bought "the new moonshine brewing book" from my social studies teacher in high school. Beside educating us in our election system, he teached us how to "cook on the cross" A simple distiller made of a couple of buckets and a wooden cross.
Missed out on my buddies trip to Scotland to visit whiskey brewers, so a trip to that type of establishment would be nice. Bet the use larger wooden crosses than we did.

Something has now come up and unfortunately we won't be making it to the meet..... which means that there will be a double room at the pub going for grabs.
I've rang the Belfry and there is not an issue with us cancelling, but before I do.... is anyone out there not sorted with a double room...so we can remedy that in one go
If so drop me a PM and we'll get it sorted

Anyone want to ride down with yours truly on Friday around 1pm (or later) from Manchester? Would suit people from Yorkshire/Lancashire as we'll be shooting down the M6. I suggest 1pm so we can miss most of the peak traffic.
Asif, I'll probably take you up on that however I'm on nights the day before, no guarantee I'll get off on time and I need my beauty sleep. I am going to try and only work half a shift. I'll keep you updated.
PS, when you say shoot down the M6, you mean cruise at a sedate 50 conserving fuel, protecting the environment and admiring the view?
Asif,
I will probably take you up on that, i was going to leave earlier and take advantage of the A and B roads from Leeds. But i will let you know closer the time..

Will the bar still be open ?
Thought I'd be the only one who be glad to miss the footie...
I can live with missing FP and even Q1-2 but missing the Catalunya main race, which is on at 1300, is not gonna happen. No need to miss it anyway... just bring a laptop. As long as there is an internet connection there will be a live stream, unless someone has a MotoGP subscription.

The bar area has at least 4 x large flat screen TV with sky .....................and as we are all residents we should be able to watch MotoGP enjoying a beer or 2 ..............................Yep we have Wi-Fi so footy :sleep1: at one end of the bar and Bike racing :punk: at the other end...................................sounds good to me

Final preparation before i leave tomorrow morning for the GTR owner meet. This year the foray will be at the bordershop in Puttgarten on my way home. I think I can get 12-13 pcs of 3 liter bag-in-box + an assortment of vodka/wiskey and gin on my trusty longship "the Thundernugget". This will be a happy viking returning home to the village with liquid loot for everyone to enjoy.

Why am I reminded of that ditty by Max Miller?

I like the girls who don't:
I like the girls who say they will,

But the girls I like the most of all,
And I know you'll think I'm right,
Are the girls that say they never will,
But look as though they might!

Hi Colin, sorry, no. I've not had a chance to update since the last list was published. If I get a minute, will update tonight.
We plan to be there around the 10.30am time so don't go drinking all the coffee, no idea what's going on during the day but the last time at the Lower Lode Inn a serious amount of chatting was done both before and during lunch, and one chap fell off his bike before the majority got there.

I'm sorry to say I am going to have to bail on this weekends meet at The Belfry. Have just had seven fantastic days away with the GTR and wife on her first real trip away on the bike and it has been great. Only snag is the ferry from Santander is currently still sat alongside with one main engine very poorly. Looks like it will be 24 hours before we arrive in Portsmouth. Which means one day at home before venturing back east to the Forest of Dean. I have let the Belfry know that we will not be attending.
Have a great weekend Guys and Gals.

THE M48 Severn Crossing will be closed this weekend to allow essential resurfacing work to take place.
The westbound carriageway will be closed between 10am on Saturday, June 14 and 6pm on Sunday, June 15 while the work is completed.
Chris Pope, Highways Agency project sponsor, said:
"The Severn Bridge is a vital transport link between England and Wales, and this work will help keep it operating safely for many years to come, as well as providing a smoother surface for road users.
"We have planned the work carefully to cause the least possible disruption and will also be taking the opportunity during the closures to carry out other work such as inspection and maintenance work to barriers and lighting, grass cutting on the verges and painting posts to reduce the need for traffic management in the future.
"Road users are advised to plan ahead and allow slightly longer for their journeys."
While the bridge is closed the following signed diversions will be in place:

I have had to return home whilst en - route to the venue today, because of an unexpected problem. I now intend to travel down tomorrow, missing out the planned family visit to my brother in the morning and going directly to the Belfry. Hopefully I will still make it for tomorrow afternoon and Saturday, however please accept my apologies if I am unable to.

Thanks to all, great weekend and company. We enjoyed touring the Welsh country side, and thanks to Neil for putting the Frenchy in charge of leading the UK group, I only saw my Satnav, apparently scenery was nice too! We made it home ok and are looking forward to the next edition. Cheers Steph and Lizette

Asif and I got back to west Yorkshire this afternoon about 3:30pm, came home the scenic route for the first half of the journey, Geoff would have been impressed with us both, no motorways at all!
Many thanks indeed to all those who attended, I was mightily impressed with Johan's journey, 2700 miles approx., absolutely awesome effort. Steph, great to see you once more and John thanks for coming over the water to see us all again. Some great characters, Zeb & that mad man Charlie. Nice to see everyone's unique bikes even the GS's. :whistling:

Also can take the year away from a vehicle which to some is important.
